Next Steps Together

Next Steps Together We are based in Kingsbridge, South Devon, and offer a range of therapeutic and support services. We are entirely guided by your needs.

We offer community-based support that promotes wellbeing and connection through activities, workshops and services for people at different stages of life; with specialist support for families impacted by dementia or people of all ages affected by ADHD. At Next Steps (Living, Dying, Grieving) we offer counselling and support to people who have experienced life-changing or limiting illness, bereave

ment, grief and loss. Our sessions may be face-to-face, at our centrally located therapy centre, online, over the phone or at one of our outdoor Eco-therapy locations (on a beach, in woods, along a river or in open parkland). Our services include:

Counselling
Support groups
Talks and workshops
Information and resources
Training and supervision (for therapists)

We run support groups for people who wish to connect with others who are experiencing issues similar to their own such as:

Living with Dying
Pre-Bereavement (anticipatory grief)
Bereavement support

We also run workshops and training courses:

Practical End-of-Life Care Skills
Creating Personal Rituals
Advance Care Planning
Self-Care Techniques
Managing Stress, Anxiety and Pain

These workshops are open to the general public, as well as healthcare professionals, end-of-life practitioners, complementary therapists and other organisations/individuals who are interested in learning more about navigating life-limiting illness and grief. Our sessions, whether in the form of individual counselling or group support, aim to help you approach difficult topics such as:

- living with a life-limiting condition
- preparing for your own death
- preparing for a loved one's death
- navigating complex family dynamics around death or loss
- anticipatory grief
- complicated grief
- life losses that feel like death (even if no-one has died)
- unresolved grief or losses from the past
- creating personal ceremonies or rituals

Sometimes a single session can give you the support you need right now. Other times we might work together for a few weeks or even months.

Tell Us What Matters

Our new community survey is now open.

We want to understand more about local activities, support and opportunities to connect across Kingsbridge and the surrounding villages, towns and parishes: what helps, what gets in the way, what already works well and what may be missing.

The survey is for members of the public, families, professionals and local organisations.

We are especially keen to hear from people living with memory concerns or dementia, neurodivergent people and families, young people, people supporting someone else, and those who may find it harder to take part because of transport, cost, confidence, health or rural isolation.

You do not need to know NeST or Tumbly Hill to take part.

The findings will help inform NeST’s application to the National Lottery Community Fund and our plans for Tumbly Hill as a community asset.

The survey takes around 15 minutes, depending on which sections are relevant to you and how much you choose to write.

Scan the QR code in the image or complete the survey here:

Prefer a paper copy? You can pick up a postcard from Tumbly Hill or the Kingsbridge Information Centre (Hello Kingsbridge).

If you are aged 18 or over, you can also choose to enter a £50 prize draw as a small thank you for your time.

Please do share this with anyone who may want to take part.

🎉We have more brilliant news to share!

After yesterday’s announcement of our Livewell Foundation major grant award, we’re thrilled to share that Next Steps Together (NeST) has been Highly Commended at the South Hams Community Awards.

Since taking on the running of Tumbly Hill last year, we’ve been working hard to transform this much-loved space into a community wellbeing hub for Kingsbridge - protecting a place that has supported local people for many years, while beginning to build something inclusive and sustainable for the future.

To have that work recognised in this way, by our local community, really means the world to us.

This award reflects the dedication of our team, volunteers, partners and the wider community who have supported Tumbly Hill along the way - we’re proud to be building this together.

Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and nominees - there are so many individuals and organisations doing hugely important, often unseen work across South Hams, and it’s a privilege to be part of that wider community.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far - whether you’ve attended a session, volunteered your time, shared our work, contributed financially to help us offer free and low-cost activities (including pay-it-forward options), or simply encouraged us along the way.

There are even more activities and services being developed over the coming months - we’re only just getting started!
