Oxburgh Estate - National Trust No-one ever forgets their first sight of Oxburgh - a romantic, moated manor house. No one forgets their first sight of Oxburgh.

Built in 1482 by the Catholic Bedingfeld family, it is the enduring legacy of their survival through turbulent times. There are 500 years of history to explore and hidden doors, rooftop views and a secret priest's hole to discover. Victorian Gothic interiors reflect a romantic view of Oxburgh's medieval past. The collections include embroideries worked by Mary, Queen of Scots, and colourful wallpapers from the mid-19th century. The moated Hall is surrounded by nearly 28 hectares (70 acres), containing gardens with seasonal interest, streams and woodland walks. Dogs are welcome in the garden and woodland.

Due to the ongoing heatwave and weather warnings in place, Oxburgh Estate will be closed on Friday 26 June for the welfare and safety of our team and visitors.

Historic houses are often cool places in a heatwave, but every building is different.

Easter is due to land at Oxburgh Estate this weekend! 🐣🐰

Running from Saturday 28 March, through to Sunday 12 April, our Easter Adventure Trail is an egg-celent way to embrace all of the joys of spring and kick start the Easter holidays!

Follow the Oxburgh chicken & egg trail across the estate which includes activities for the whole family can enjoy. It’s £3.50 per child, per trail which includes an Easter activity sheet, bunny ears and a chocolate or ‘free from’ egg.

Standard entrance fee applies, National Trust members enter for free.
