Always great to attend the College of West Anglia's Pride Event today. Really encouraging to see so many young people being themselves supporting one another and highlighting what an inclusive place CWA is.

Pride is many things. A celebration, a protest, a memory and a promise.

A promise that we keep showing up - for each other, for those who came before us and for the young person somewhere who is yet to find their people.

The world still has a long way to go. In more than 60 countries, being who you are can cost you your freedom or your life. Closer to home, too many LGBTQ+ people still face prejudice, isolation, and fear in their daily lives.

That’s why what we do here matters. King’s Lynn & West Norfolk Pride exists to make this corner of the world a little more visible, a little more welcoming and a lot more loud.

We’re here all year - not just for one day in August. Because community isn’t an event. It’s something you build, protect and show up for every day.

If you’re LGBTQ+, welcome home. If you’re an ally, thank you for being here. If you’re still figuring things out, there’s a place for you too.

Nobody should have to hide who they are! 🏳️‍🌈

The EHRC’s updated Code of Practice has now been laid before Parliament by Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities. Despite her job title, this guidance protects neither women nor equality. It protects a political position, at the direct expense of some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

Unless we force MPs to act within the next 40 days, it becomes law.

Swipe through to read our full statement.

Trans people are our friends, our family, our community. They deserve to live freely and safely, just like everyone else. That is what King’s Lynn & West Norfolk Pride was built on, and it is not something we are prepared to compromise on.

The clock is ticking. We are calling on our MPs James Wild & Terry Jermy, to reject this guidance, defend the Equality Act in full, and make clear that trans and non-binary people in West Norfolk are seen, valued, and protected.

If you stand with us, contact your MP. Share this post and others from other organisations. Share and uplift voices of those most affected. Let’s make sure our community knows they are not alone.

Today, we mark International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

We stand with our LGBTQ+ community, not just across King's Lynn and West Norfolk, but everywhere, and commit to creating a safer, kinder and more inclusive world for all.

Today is Le***an Visibility Day, and we want to take a moment to celebrate every le***an woman in our community here in King’s Lynn, across West Norfolk, and beyond.

Visibility is powerful. It builds connection, challenges isolation, and reminds people they are not alone.

Whether you’re proudly out, still finding your way, or somewhere in between, you matter to us, and you have a home here.

Happy Le***an Visibility Day from everyone at King’s Lynn & West Norfolk Pride. 🩷🧡

Today is Trans Day of Visibility. A day about celebrating transgender, gender-diverse and non-binary people - our friends, our family, our colleagues, our neighbours - who continue to live authentically, often in the face of hate, fear and misunderstanding.

Being trans isn’t a debate, it’s not an ideology and it’s definitely not about flags being flown from council buildings. It’s about real people, those who simply want to live their lives with the same dignity, respect and safety that everyone deserves.

At King’s Lynn & West Norfolk Pride, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our trans community. We believe in equality for everyone - women, men and everyone beyond or between those words. Supporting trans rights does not take away from women’s rights. It’s all part of the same fight for dignity and choice.

Today we celebrate trans visibility. Tomorrow, and every day after, we’ll keep working for a community where everyone can live as their true self - proudly, safely and without fear.

Fantastic to see our libraries here in Norfolk raising awareness for LGBTQIA+ history month!

LGBT History Month (February) is an annual observance dedicated to celebrating the history, achievements, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. We've selected some books in the library to raise awareness of this history month and to demonstrate our support for our local community.
