Samphire Quilters

Samphire Quilters Samphire Quilters were founded in 1991, by a group of 8/9 people, after an exhibition by Norfolk Quilters at the local museum.

From this beginning the group has now flourished to a membership of 40-45.

It's time to save the date for the 2026 Samphire Quilters exhibition!

We are back for our exhibition of quilts, patchwork and textile crafts at St Nicholas Chapel in King's Lynn.

Friday 10th July to Sunday 12th July 2026.

Refreshments, sales tables, tombola, raffle and traders will be available.

We look forward to seeing you there.

We regret to inform our friends and followers that our 2025 Samphire Quilters' exhibition is cancelled this year.

Our lovely venue is closed for now, due to issues with the roof.

We will be back in 2026 with a bumper crop of quilts to show you all - twice as good!

Take care.

Wishing my lovely mum June a very very happy 94th birthday with lots of love always ###

Once again Samphire Quilters filled St Nicholas Chapel in Kings Lynn with an array of beautiful quilts.
There were 134 exhibits of varying size all completed in the last year.

The group had taken part in a colour swap in the year and the items made for this varied from patchwork Scotty dogs to seahorse wall hangings, cushions and numerous other quilts. The Chairman’s challenge also gave a variety of quilts, cushions and wall hangings and the group struggled to pick a winner so there was a joint 3 ways 1st prize.
This year our themed area was celebrating the charities we have supported over the last 10 years, displaying the felt poppies made at an evening meeting, Linus quilts, and heart cushions for the breast care unit at Queen Elizabeth hospital and Quilts for care leavers.
Our charity this year is Leeway (for survivors of domestic abuse) and our Tombola raised £393 and the raffle of 2 quilts and a cushion raised a further £104.
Our annual charity sales table raised £554 this traditionally goes to Tapping House Hospice. One of our group members – Colin sat at his sewing machine for the 3 days completing a jelly roll race, from which he made 7 quilt tops, and quilted 4. Once completed will be given to Nelsons Journey, he also had a collection pot on his table and collected £82 pounds towards the fleece backing. Since then the Fent Shop in Kings Lynn has kindly donated the fleece and the monies raised will go to Nelsons Journey and this has been made up to £100.
Another of our members (Sharon) sat demonstrating her work with enjoyment to those attending the exhibition. There were also 3 local traders who were all willing to give help and advice.
To add to the enjoyment there was also a refreshment stall with homemade cakes, this was kept very busy over the 3 days.
As Chairman of this wonderful group I would once again like to thank the group for their hard work and support with this event and look forward to next year.
