Solace End of Life Support Services:
Home Support Services:
Complete initial home assessment completed by fully qualified healthcare professionals (nurse, psychotherapist, social worker). Followed by intensive support at home and in the community, from specialist volunteers as follows:
a) Minimum twice weekly visits, or less if preferred, on a completely in
dividual basis. (from diagnosis to EoL)
b) Specially matched, dedicated volunteer (according to needs) who will work with clients (continuity) for as long as needed. c) Offering emotional support, advice, guidance and advocacy (such as legal/financial issues and care options, also accompaniment to appointments / meetings as required. d) Emotional support for clients and family at home (including communication awareness / education)
e) Education and guidance for families in holistic end of life support. f) Reiki, aromatherapy, gentle massage, reflexology, energy health wellbeing, holistic therapies etc. g) Companionship and practical help (such as chats, helping with tea-making, light meals, walks, quiet times etc)
h) Guidance with basic health and dietary issues. i) Individual signposting to specialist services (if required) and liaison with other professionals. j) Advanced wishes, care and funeral planning. k) Spiritual support (all denominations, faiths and beliefs) as required. l) General holistic comfort support. m) End of life (last few days) sitting service, supporting clients as they pass away, and general support to families. (On Call)
This is a general outline, not exhaustive list. All volunteers will have in-depth support from our qualified Healthcare Managers. Out of Hours Support:
Telephone advice and support, emergency on- call service available out of working hours. Also on-call and out of hours home visits when clients are close to dying. Community Support Groups:
In the short term, we will be offering:
a) Counselling support groups for clients and family members. b) Social support groups for clients and family members. c) Meditation and relaxation groups for clients and family members. d) Advice / guidance sessions / drop-ins
In the longer term (2017) we will be offering:
a) Healthy lunch club for clients and family members. b) Community therapeutic activity groups including:
• Music for therapy
• Gentle dancing
• Gentle yoga
• Arts and Crafts
• Complementary therapies drop-in
Pre /Post Bereavement Counselling:
One to one counselling with qualified professionals for up to 12 months, for clients who have a life-limiting illness / dying, and family members, before and after their loved one dies. This will be available for clients from early diagnosis through to end of life, and family members from this time until approximately 6 months after a loved one has passed away. Education / Training Courses:

2. Holistic EoL Support for Professionals – Foundation Level.
3. Holistic EoL Support for Professionals – Practitioner Level.
4. Complete intensive EoL (incorporating 2 & 3) for Professionals.
5. Communication Skills in EoL Support 1 (for professionals)

(for professionals)
