Beavers Update 🦫 The Beavers had a great final night of the session. As part of our sausage sizzle, the Beavers cooked their own sausages and enjoyed making delicious s’mores over the fire. One of our Beavers showed off a fantastic robot they had built for their Builder Badge, while Ben proudly brought along the radishes he had grown himself for his Gardener Badge. It has been wonderful to see the Beavers develop new skills, share their achievements and have lots of fun together this session, and we're already excited to see them back after the summer.

Cubs Update 🐾 Last night the Cubs kicked things off with a fast-paced game of hockey, getting everyone active and ready for the evening ahead. After that, they worked towards their World Challenge Badge, focusing on basic first aid for cuts, grazes and burns. The Cubs learned some important skills that could help them look after themselves and others in everyday situations. To finish the evening, everyone enjoyed a few lively games of dodgeball, bringing plenty of energy, teamwork and fun to the end of the meeting. A brilliant mix of learning and fun all round!

Beavers Update 🦫
Last night the Beavers enjoyed an evening of outdoor activities and learning new skills. They learned how to light a candle safely, gaining confidence while understanding the importance of fire safety. The Beavers also planted their own sunflower seeds, which they can look forward to watching grow over the coming weeks. 🌻 To finish the evening, everyone had a turn at the tomahawk board, testing their aim and concentration. 🎯

🌟 Supporting Our Scout Group 🌟
One of our amazing Beaver Leaders, Iain Wilson, is taking on an incredible challenge to raise funds for our Scout Group and another local charity. A year ago, on 8 June 2025, Iain underwent open heart surgery. On 20 June 2026, he will be running the Loch Lomond 10k, his first 10k since surgery, alongside his sister, Jenni, mother-in-law, Bettina, and brother-in-law, Ewan. As many of you know, Iain's son Alexander is a Beaver with our group, and not long after his surgery, Iain joined us as a Beaver Leader. His enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to our young people have been outstanding, and we are incredibly proud of everything he has achieved on his road to recovery. Taking on a 10k just one year after major surgery is a remarkable achievement, and we would love to support him as he takes on this challenge.
If you would like to help Iain raise funds for our Scout Group, please consider making a donation through his JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/iain-wilson-scouts Every donation, no matter the size, is greatly appreciated and will help us continue providing exciting opportunities and adventures for our young people.
Good luck, Iain we'll all be cheering you on!

Scouts Update 🧭 The Scouts did a great job this week making Bannock bread and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the results of their efforts! It was a fantastic opportunity to learn a traditional outdoor cooking skill, and the finished bread went down very well. We're hoping that this week's meeting will be an outdoor adventure at Lainshaw Woods, where the Scouts can continue developing their outdoor skills and enjoy some time in nature. 🌳

Cubs Update 🐾 This week, the Cubs started the evening with a lively game of 3 Bouncy Balls. By the end, we seemed to have a few more than three in play! 😂 They then enjoyed a game of Port and Starboard, keeping everyone on their toes and having lots of fun. After that, Ruth led badge work on the Countryside Code, helping the Cubs learn how to enjoy and respect the outdoors responsibly. To finish the evening, the Cubs played their favourite game, Jeans, ending another fun night. 🌿

Beavers Update 🦫Last night the Beavers finished off their Healthy Eating Badge by focusing on the fitness side of staying healthy. They took part in four activity stations: high jump, long jump, jumping jacks and burpees, giving each challenge their best effort. Before and after the activities, the Beavers checked their pulse to see how exercise affects their heart rate and learn more about keeping their bodies healthy. It was a fun and energetic evening, and the Beavers did a fantastic job completing their badge.

A wonderful piece of local Scouting history! Shared from Stewarton, When We Were Growing Up and Now, with thanks to John Sibbald for kindly giving permission to share.

This photograph shows members of the 20th Ayrshire Scouts heading to Amroth, South Wales, around 1965. It's fantastic to look back on the adventures and memories Scouts from our area have made over the years.

Do you recognise anyone in the photo or have any memories from this trip? We'd love to hear from you! 😊

Cubs Update 🏕️ From pitching tents and washing up, to preparing meals and the final pack-up, camp is always a real team effort with Cubs and leaders all working together. Our Cubs were incredibly helpful throughout the whole weekend, showing great teamwork, responsibility and a willingness to pitch in whenever needed. We’re very proud of how they all helped make camp such a success. We already can’t wait for our next camp adventure in September! ⛺

Cubs Update 🧗The sun was shining at Lapwing Lodge as the Cubs took on the dizzy heights of the climbing wall. After putting on their safety harnesses and helmets, they challenged themselves to make their way to the top, showing lots of determination and bravery along the way. Who knows, maybe we have some future Gladiators contestants in the making, ready to take on the famous wall one day.
