Kilmacolm Scout Group Kilmacolm Scout Group: Beavers, Cubs and Scouts 42nd Greenock and District, 1st Kilmacolm Scout Group. We are part of the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation.

Beavers (6-8) Tuesdays 6pm to 7pm
Cubs (8-10.5) Tuesdays 7.15pm to 8.30pm
Scouts (10.5 to 14) Wednesdays 7pm to 8.30pm
Birkmyre Explorer Unit (14 to 18) Fridays 7pm to 9pm. We change lives by offering 6- to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities. Registered Charity Number SC000210

Beaver and Cubs both outside tonight, very lucky with the weather considering the past couple of days.
Beavers learned to play rounders, showing team work, and learning how important it is to stay fit and do a warm up (big laps of the field for little legs).
Cubs walked down to the woods for a litter pick. We found some litter but not a lot which we're taking as a positive, showing the village is well looked after.
Well done to both sections and big thank you to our parent helpers and to Annette at Green Tangerine for supporting the litter pick

Our 2 teams did brilliantly this weekend in a very close fought competition. There was very little between all the teams. They worked extremely hard ; displayed great teamwork and we are really proud of them all.

After dinner last night we did a science experiment with play-doh, learning about density and buoyancy. Then it was time for a Taskmaster drawing challenge.

After bacon rolls for breakfast today, half the group took the Canadian canoes out on the loch for a paddle, while the rest baked really yummy chocolate chip cookies!

This afternoon we dismantled all our pioneering projects and put away the stormhaven tent. It’s always a bit sad when we start the packing up ☹️

We’ve got sweet & sour chicken for dinner tonight, then we’ll have our final Taskmaster challenge - each group has been working on a “campfire” entertainment. We can’t wait to see their performances 🎭

It was a wee bit windy today, do we stayed off the water.

Instead, we tried different methods of fire lighting - chemicals, bow drill, magnifying glasses and flint & steel. Then we learned how to pitch a stormhaven tent. ⛺️

After lunch we practiced how to throw throw lines, then had go kart races on the beach.

We’ve just finished dinner - bbq’d burgers, salad and corn cobs, followed by bbq’d pineapple with ice cream 🍦
