For our last night of the Summer term Beavers had an indoor beach party. We played lots of games, had cake, enjoyed some beach style activities and awarded badges.
Good luck to our senior Beavers moving up to Cubs in the new term 🐾

For our final night of term Cubs visited Kilmacolm Farm Tours. We had an absolutely amazing time, learning about the farm, the equipment and the animals plus a tour to see the fabulous Highland Cows. Thank you so much to Wendy, James, Caitlin and our very own Kyle for sharing your farm with us tonight.

It was also the final night for our current leader team. Thank you from Akela, Bagheera and Kaa as we step back from our leader roles. We’ve had wonderful adventures, gained new skills and met lots of great people over the many years we’ve been part of Cubs. Thank you from all three of us. Keep Scouting! ⚜️

Cubs had a walk up to the Glenmoss nature reserve tonight. We learnt about the area and looked at the wildlife that lives there - including damsel flies, millipedes, swans.

Back at the hall we awarded a few more badges. Congratulations to Finlay on achieving his Chief Scout Gold and to the blue six for getting most points this term!

Senior camp is over for another year! Everyone had a great time, despite the rain and midges - the Cubs smiled the whole way through.

We awarded plenty of badges but particular congratulations to the five who earned their Chief Scout Silver awards.

Now the fun part - we have a hall full of wet tents and kit. We’ll email out asking for help to put stuff away and pitch more tents that need to be dried. Many hands make light work!

Hungry hippos and sumo suits for our other team after lunch, while the others did their navigating. We collected wood, built our fires and cooked our dinner (no pictures, it was so tasty we dived straight in!) It was chicken orzo - the cubs rated it 10/10 and most requested the recipe! We also cooked chocolate bananas and barbecued pineapple. After washing up, it was toasting marshmallows on the fire.

Cubs were up early this morning for cereal and bacon rolls. Then we built shelters, had a go in sumo suits, did our navigation badge and started our pioneering badge. More of the same this afternoon as groups swap over.

Senior cub camp is under way! The huge pile of kit from the hall got loaded up and brought to Lapwing. We’re now set up, tents pitched and badge work begun. After a supper of crackers, cheese and hot chocolate cubs are brushing their teeth before heading to bed. Fingers crossed they actually sleep! 🏕️😴

The Beavers worked on their Builder badge tonight with a special challenge from our Beaver mascot, to build a bridge that a toy car could cross.
We had teamwork, plans, disagreements, ideas, problem solving, communication and trial and error. Lots of important skills being developed
