Since last Saturday, our team has had a busy and intensive period, resulting in a number of callouts over recent days.

A massive thank you must go to our incredible volunteers and their families for their unwavering commitment during a deeply demanding week.

Sadly, a number of these incidents resulted in fatalities. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and friends of those involved.

Great advice from Kev Scottish Mountain Rescue. But also remember wear a hat that protects your head, neck and face from the sun. 👒 🤠 And consider if it will be to hot for your dog 🐶 🐕

We see a spike in callouts whenever conditions are good in the hills. Here, our previous Vice-Chair Kev Mitchell of Ochils Mountain Rescue Team shares his top tips for enjoying a safe day in the mountains during hot weather...

• check the weather. https://www.mwis.org.uk/ is a good source of mountain-specific weather forecasts
• start early. Ascend early when it's cool, to avoid exerting yourself during the hottest part of the day
• hydrate and remember to eat
• wear suitable footwear
• take your map and compass - and know how to use them
• take suncream, and remember to apply regularly - especially to the back of your neck and shoulders
• take care not to start any fires.

⚠️ Don't underestimate hot weather and the issues it can bring for physical exertion in the mountains. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can be serious and life threatening.

📞 If you’re ever in need of assistance in Scotland’s mountains or outdoor spaces:
Call 999,
Ask for the POLICE,
then Mountain Rescue.

⛰️Our volunteer teams are on call 24/7 and ready to help anyone in distress outdoors. If in doubt, it's always best to call early rather than later.

Take care, follow Kev's advice, and enjoy the wonderful adventures our hills have to offer!

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the hill walker.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the hill walker.

On the evening of Saturday 23rd May the team responded to a report of an overdue hillwalker in the Ben Lawers range.

Alongside colleagues from Police Scotland Tayside MRT and Killin Mountain Rescue Team, as well as the aircrew of R853 from Oban, R851 from Inverness and R226 from Prestwick, the team searched through the night for the missing person.

On Sunday morning the search was joined by further assets from Search & Rescue Dog Association (Scotland), SARDA Southern Scotland, SARAA - Search and Rescue Aerial Association and Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue Service from RAF Valley as well as helicopter R199 from Prestwick.

Sadly at 1:25pm the body of a man was recovered from the munro An Stuc.

Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this sad time.

Our team wouldn't exist if it was not for the support of our local community and businesses. Today, we highlight Beinglas Campsite WHW, who fundraise for us all year round.

A huge thanks for your incredible support. It warms our hearts during these tough searches & truly means the world to us to know you're behind us. 🙏

Also thanks for the refreshments today after training.

Please respect the countryside.

Our Hillsides are coming alive with the sight of healthy new lambs enjoying the fresh spring grass alongside their mums. It’s one of the busiest — and most rewarding — times of year on the estate, and we’re delighted to see the first arrivals thriving.

If you’re out enjoying the estate, we kindly ask that you please do not pick up or handle the lambs. While they may look abandoned, their mothers are often nearby, and unnecessary handling can cause stress to both ewe and lamb.

Callout on Beinn nan Eachan above Killin to assist a hill goer who ended up with a lower leg injury on Sunday .

Because of the steep, awkward spot they were in, we called in the chopper to lift the casualty off and onwards to hospital. This resulted in a quick resolution due to the expertise of the Air Crew.

Some stories stay with you, not because they are dramatic, it's just that they are honest.

Last year, Iona, an experienced, capable and well‑prepared mountaineer, needed our help on Ben More in terrible conditions. She did everything right yet still found herself in difficulty. It happens more often than people realise. Thankfully she called .

She recently spoke with Fiona Stewart on the BBC Scotland radio, podcast about what happened. Her account is thoughtful, humble, and deeply relatable to just about every enthusiast. It is a reminder thata the Scottish Mountains do not care how experienced you are; they simply can and will test anyone at any point.

🎧 Listen to Iona’s story:

We as a team are incredibly moved that Iona is now fundraising for us. As a volunteer charity, her support helps us continue doing what we do: helping people when they need it most.

👉 Her donation link is below, and you can help Iona to help us save lives on Scotland's Mountains:
