After a three-year gap caused by the Covid pandemic, the Killearn Community Futures Company is delighted that this Friday (4th Nov) sees the return of the Killearn charity fireworks display and bonfire extravaganza.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you to the event at the Glebe (the field behind the village hall) on Friday 4th November. Turnip the Beet will be on site with their food truck and gates open at 19:00. The bonfire will be lit at 19.15 and the fireworks will start promptly at 19:30.
Ideally, the weather will be kind enough for everyone to walk to the Glebe, but if you have to travel by car, please allow plenty time to find a parking place and bear in mind you may have to park some distance from the event. Please obey any No Parking signs or cones put in place for the event.
Admission is by cash donation, so please dig deep and give generously, as KCFC depend on monies raised to fund the event. KCFC would like to thank the local businesses who advertise in the event’s brochure, distributed to houses across the village.
Organisers request that no other fireworks or sparklers are brought into the Glebe and that no alcohol is consumed at the event.
No unaccompanied children under the age of 16 will be admitted to the event.
KCFC will continue to donate to local youth organisations and the other parties who provide organisational support. In addition we would be pleased to hear from anyone who would like to suggest a locally-run good cause for this year's main fund raising initiative. Please contact Graeme Fraser, the main organiser, via email [email protected] if you have a charity or cause in mind.
KCFC is aware of the issues that fireworks can cause and conclude that a single, well-publicised event hugely reduces the widespread and unpredictable ignition of fireworks throughout the village. The display itself is provided by 21CC, a professional fireworks display provider and because this year’s event is a contract carried forward from previously cancelled events organisers did not have the option to consider a low noise configuration of fireworks. KCFC will however investigate this as part of the process for future events.
We hope everyone enjoys this annual community fun evening which helps support local causes and organisations.
The tidy up will begin on Saturday morning, starting at 10am, for anyone wishing to volunteer! We’d love to see you.
