Thanks to Killearn Community Fireworks Group, volunteers and supporting organisations for a fantastic bonfire and display on Friday night. Early feedback has all been positive, so it sounds like all the work that goes into 15 minutes of excitement has been worthwhile!

KCFC are always looking for suggestions of locally-run good causes to make donations to for this year's fund raising initiative. Please contact Graeme Fraser, via email [email protected] if you have a charity or cause in mind.

We look forward to seeing you all again next year.

*** Please DO NOT dump any wood at the Glebe***

We can only accept pallets by prior arrangement. We appreciate the thought, but we can’t accept general timer or garden waste.

If the person who own this old shed could please come and remove it or assist moving it to the fire. Thanks.

After a three-year gap caused by the Covid pandemic, the Killearn Community Futures Company is delighted that this Friday (4th Nov) sees the return of the Killearn charity fireworks display and bonfire extravaganza.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to the event at the Glebe (the field behind the village hall) on Friday 4th November. Turnip the Beet will be on site with their food truck and gates open at 19:00. The bonfire will be lit at 19.15 and the fireworks will start promptly at 19:30.

Ideally, the weather will be kind enough for everyone to walk to the Glebe, but if you have to travel by car, please allow plenty time to find a parking place and bear in mind you may have to park some distance from the event. Please obey any No Parking signs or cones put in place for the event.

Admission is by cash donation, so please dig deep and give generously, as KCFC depend on monies raised to fund the event. KCFC would like to thank the local businesses who advertise in the event’s brochure, distributed to houses across the village.

Organisers request that no other fireworks or sparklers are brought into the Glebe and that no alcohol is consumed at the event.

No unaccompanied children under the age of 16 will be admitted to the event.

KCFC will continue to donate to local youth organisations and the other parties who provide organisational support. In addition we would be pleased to hear from anyone who would like to suggest a locally-run good cause for this year's main fund raising initiative. Please contact Graeme Fraser, the main organiser, via email [email protected] if you have a charity or cause in mind.

KCFC is aware of the issues that fireworks can cause and conclude that a single, well-publicised event hugely reduces the widespread and unpredictable ignition of fireworks throughout the village. The display itself is provided by 21CC, a professional fireworks display provider and because this year’s event is a contract carried forward from previously cancelled events organisers did not have the option to consider a low noise configuration of fireworks. KCFC will however investigate this as part of the process for future events.

We hope everyone enjoys this annual community fun evening which helps support local causes and organisations.

The tidy up will begin on Saturday morning, starting at 10am, for anyone wishing to volunteer! We’d love to see you.

Please be aware that there will be extensive parking restrictions on the A875 from Balfron to Killearn and on the B834 Station Road on Saturday 3d November. If approaching Killearn from Strathblane there is parking on Beech Drive and surrounding streets (3rd on the left off Main Street). Approaching Killearn from Drymen Lampson Road (1st on the right off Station Road) provides parking. Either of the foregoing options can be accessed by those approaching from Balfron or Fintry.

Please park considerately and do no block entrance ways or leave your car too close to junctions.

We need your understanding and cooperation to ensure that we are permitted to continue holding this very popular annual event as the routes used by buses and emergency vehicles need to be kept clear at all times.

We hope you enjoy the display and drive carefully.

Please note: Sparklers are not allowed on site

If you can, please walk to the fireworks tomorrow night. There is no official parking but there are various car parks throughout the village and many side streets. We ask that you are respectful to the residents of Killearn when doing this.
