Remembrance Sunday - 8th November 2026

Let’s see Killamarsh come together in remembrance!

Join us to honour those who served and sacrificed. Whether you’re lining the streets or attending the service, everyone is welcome.

The parade is organised by Killamarsh Parish Council, supported annually by the Royal British Legion Killamarsh Branch, and the Parade Marshal, WO E Taylor RAFAC.

Current and ex serving personnel of HM Armed Forces are welcome to parade with the RBL.

For Those Parading:

* Arrive BEFORE 1415hrs and report to the Parade Marshal.
* Wreath layers should report to an RBL member assisting the Parade Marshal at the War Memorial for positioning.

Parade Timings:

* 1415hrs – Road closure and parade formation
St Giles Church Hall, Sheepcote Road
* 1430hrs – Parade steps off (no earlier)
* 1440hrs – Act of Remembrance
War Memorial, High Street/Kirkcroft Lane
* 1500hrs – Church Service
St Giles Church, Kirkcroft Lane
* 1530–1545hrs – Approximate finish

Refreshments afterwards at The Crown, Ashley Lane.

Bring your family, invite your neighbours and help us show that Killamarsh remembers.

🎉 THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION’S NATIONAL POPPY APPEAL 2026 LAUNCHES TODAY! 🎉

Today, Thursday 22nd October, marks the national launch of the Royal British Legion’s 2026 Poppy Appeal, and Killamarsh Branch is proud to be supporting this year’s campaign!

When someone serves, their family serves too.

This year’s appeal shines a light on the sacrifices made not only by those who serve, but also by the families who stand alongside them. From missed birthdays and long periods apart to the challenges of military life, the Royal British Legion is there to support serving personnel, veterans and their families.

From Friday 23rd October, our wonderful volunteers will be out and about at our manned collection stalls at:

Can’t make it to one of our stalls? Don’t worry! You’ll also find poppy boxes and donation tins in local shops and pubs throughout Killamarsh and the surrounding district, so there are plenty of opportunities to show your support!

Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps the Royal British Legion continue its vital work supporting the Armed Forces community.

And remember, there’s no right or wrong way to wear your poppy. It’s the meaning behind it that matters!

🇬🇧 Victory in Europe – 81 Years On 🇬🇧

Today, we mark 81 years since Victory in Europe Day, when the guns fell silent across Europe and the Second World War in Europe came to an end.

VE Day was a moment of celebration, relief and hope, but it was also a time to remember the enormous sacrifice made by so many. We remember all those who served, those who never came home, and those whose lives were changed forever by war.

As we reflect on 81 years since that historic day, we remain thankful for the courage, resilience and service of the wartime generation.

We will remember them.

🇬🇧 VE Day Brew and a Bite 🇬🇧

Join us this Saturday 9th May, from 10am to 1pm, at St Giles Church Hall, Sheepcote Road, for our VE Day Brew and a Bite.

Come along for a cuppa, a bite to eat, and a chance to mark VE Day together as a community.

Everyone is welcome, so please pop in and join us.

Last week, our Chairman and two members of the committee attended the Killamarsh Community Awards after learning we had been nominated.

We’re incredibly proud to share that we were awarded Community Organisation of the Year.

A huge thank you to everyone in the community for your continued support, not just this year but over the many years we’ve been part of Killamarsh.
