Lawrenny Yacht Club is based in the upper reaches of the Milford Haven Estuary, some 8 miles from the sea, on a most beautiful part of the River Cleddau. There are 22 miles of estuary to explore and the Bristol Channel and Irish Sea are within easy reach. The Lawrenny Arms has been the unofficial clubhouse and over the years and has hosted the yacht club’s very active social side. There is a Lawre
nny Yacht Club notice board in the bar and an impressive display of trophies in a cabinet. The club was started in the early 1970s and in fact celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2011. The club is unusual in that it caters for very different types of water borne activities. The boating side has always covered a wide interest from the cruising/racing sailor, to the very active power boat section. There is an active group of kayak owners, an interest in forming a rowing section and also the club is planning some power boat and sailing dinghy training to encourage some of the younger members safely onto the water. The impressive social calendar includes events such as the summer ball, dinner dance and prize giving night, Easter and Halloween events for children and adults, and many more. A substantial amount of money is raised for RNLI funds each year at the annual fete held on the Sunday of the August Bank Holiday weekend. Altogether Lawrenny Yacht Club is a unique, active and friendly club. New members are always welcome, details of how to join and a list of contacts can be seen in other areas of the website. Membership forms are also available on the notice board at the Lawrenny Arms.
