📢 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 – 𝗔𝗩𝗕𝗖 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗔𝗩𝗔/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱/𝟬𝟱𝟴𝟳) 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹: Residential development of up to 200 dwellings.

Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday’s Kilburn Parish Council meeting — it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout. Parishioners had the opportunity to raise their concerns directly with Kilburn Parish Council and representatives from Amber Valley Borough Council.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 & 𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

• 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
As of yesterday, 𝟮𝟬𝟮 𝗼𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 have been submitted against the planning application.

• 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆: Each person should file their own objection, even within the same household — this will increase the total number recorded.
𝗩𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀: Different objections carry more weight.
𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲: Petitions count as 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, regardless of how many signatures they contain.

• 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀:
Attendees are encouraged to inform neighbours and friends — especially those without internet access — so they can submit objections too.

• 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 & 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
The current deadline to comment is 𝟭𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱.
Kilburn Parish Council has requested an extension and this has been granted. The extension date will be confirmed once we have a confirmed date for a consultation meeting.

• 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀:
𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: A village-wide meeting is being arranged and will be advertised on:
* Kilburn Parish Council website
* Kilburn Community Association page
* Parish Council noticeboards

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The council will submit its own formal objection, but this counts as only one objection — members are encouraged to submit their own individual objections as well.

| We are appealing for witnesses and information after an incident of criminal damage in Kilburn.

Red crosses were painted on the wall behind the war memorial and a mini roundabout in Church Street sometime between 24 August and 25 August.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident as well as anyone who may have any information.

Police and Crime Commissioner Nicolle Ndiweni-Roberts has welcomed new figures showing 316 e-scooters have been seized off the streets of Derbyshire as part of a tough enforcement drive.

A new ‘seize and dispose’ approach was implemented by Derbyshire Constabulary on 1st November 2024 which sees officers seizing e-scooters on the first interaction with police before sending them for disposal. Users can also face prosecution through the courts.

The move, which was fully backed by the PCC who launched an awareness campaign to support the new approach, followed widespread concerns by residents that the vehicles were being used illegally and dangerously across the county.

Since the introduction of the new policy, 316 3-scooters have been seized – 52 of which have been taken in February.

In addition, all the force’s PCSOs across the county have received full training on the new procedure and have been granted the same powers as police officers to seize and dispose. This is a significant step which will enable officers and PCSOs to respond more robustly when they are reported to be causing a nuisance in our communities.

On Thursday 6th Feb 2025 Chris Howell of Chapel Street, Kilburn was arrested by officers from Amber Valley, He was charged with TWOC (taking without owners consent) and breaching his CBO (Criminal Behaviour Order).
At court he was convicted and sentenced to 48 weeks in prison for these offences.

This week, we have took part in a range of activities as part of Operation Sceptre, the national fight against knife crime. 🔪

We have encouraged anyone with unwanted knives to come to our amnesty bin events this week, which has been a great success, with a total of 51 knives handed in over Amber Valley.
They will be safely disposed of and it could prevent them getting into the wrong hands.
