What a year it's been for the Habbie Simpson Gowfin Society...
From the Spring Outing at Lanark Golf Club to a cracking autumn day at Drumpellier Golf Club, it’s been a fantastic year of golf and get‑togethers for the Habbies.
Highlights on the course included Spring Champion Craig George firing the round of his life with 47 points at Lanark. Mark Sloan lifted the Habbie Cup at Old Course Ranfurly, and Stevie Scott defended the Society Championship at Drumpellier with a brilliant gross +1 to make it three in a row.
The inaugural Habbies Matchplay was also played right through to a cracking final at Ranfurly Castle, where David Grant became our first Matchplay Champion with a 3&1 win over Brian Taylor.
There was more team success too, with the Habbies defending the Borland Rosebowl on its 40th anniversary in a tight 4½–3½ win over Old Course Ranfurly, keeping that cherished piece of silverware in Habbie hands for another year.
On top of the golf, the society came together off the course for a fantastic first‑ever Prize Giving at Kilbarchan Memorial Hall, where members, partners and friends celebrated the season and raised £1,000 for local charity The STAR Project.
Huge thanks go to everyone who supported the society this year: Lanark Golf Club and Drumpellier Golf Club for hosting our outings, Old Course Ranfurly Golf Club and Ranfurly Castle Golf Club for their continued backing, and all the Habbies who teed it up, helped organise, donated prizes and turned out in numbers for events.
The inaugural Prize Giving night – with Alan Gordon on hosting duties, backing from The Trust Inn Kilbarchan team, and special guests including Kenny Barr from Old Course Ranfurly and Ranfurly Castle Head Pro Ethan Law who continues to be a great supporter of the Habbies – really underlined what this society is all about.
Thanks again to all our members for a fantastic season – and well done to every winner, runner‑up, and story‑for‑the‑bar along the way.
Next up is the Winter Cracker on Sunday 28 December, then attention turns to planning an even bigger and better 2026 for the Habbies.
