Our claim for a judicial review of Cherwell District Council’s decision to grant planning permission for a new stadium for Oxford United was filed with the High Court today

We are pleased to announce that our claim for a judicial review of Cherwell District Council’s decision to grant planning permission for a new stadium for Oxford United was filed with the High Court on 9 April 2026....

🚨 The club has been told to stop work or face enforcement action.

Over the last few years, FOSB has often been accused of trying to destroy Oxford United Football Club. No. Any harm which may be caused rests firmly with the club's management and our local councils for allowing an opportunistic land grab of local Green Belt that was intended to remain as such. There is no evidence the Club is being evicted from the Kassam Stadium (apart from the club's own press release). Despite being advised by the County Council to have a plan B, the club has apparently chosen not to: a strategy which may prove to have been a risk too far. After a consultation and planning process fraught with inaccuracy, false promises and political pressure, we are determined to fight this as far as possible, and accept no responsibility for any possible consequences of attempting to commercialise local Green Belt against the democratically-expressed wishes of local residents.

⚠️OUFC clearance works breach planning Decision Notice 🚫
The recently-issued stadium Decision Notice prohibited vegetation clearance or ground works until a 'Construction Environmental Management Plan' (CEMP: Biodiversity) is approved in writing. Despite that, we were shocked to get local resident reports this week that clearance had already started. Cherwell District Council’s enforcement officer was alerted and immediately wrote to OUFC’s agents to request that no further work takes place, with failure to comply potentially resulting in formal enforcement action. Our solicitor will write to OUFC to ask what further works it intends to carry out before the judicial review has concluded. We may consider seeking an injunction to prevent further irreversible damage to the Triangle if necessary.

In response to reports that our Gofundme account is under investigation, we would like to categorically state that this is entirely false. We believe this information has originated from incorrect rumours circulating on the OUFC's fans' forum. We have paused the fundraiser ourselves for now as we have met the target. We can confirm that all donations added as "offline" on our crowdfunder are donations that have reached our bank account. It is regrettable that a minority of pro-stadium supporters continue to publicise defamatory and unacceptable statements about FOSB - this reflects poorly on the football club.

We've reached our £50k fundraising target already! Thank you to all our generous supporters 🙏

Local residents seem to agree with us that the 'benefits' offered by the OUFC stadium proposal mainly consist of travel infrastructure improvements to enable large movements of people within a compressed timeframe, and are vastly outweighed by the obvious and significant disadvantages for the local community such as regular road closures. We are overwhelmed by all the support for our legal costs fundraiser. Thanks to the generosity of donors so far, we are very nearly there. Please help if you can - link in comments.

A massive thank you to all our generous donors and leaflet volunteers 🙏. OUFC's ecologists say the Triangle has zero biodiversity value. We disagree, and will do everything we can to save this green space.
