Laughing Policeman Wireless Society LPWS

Laughing Policeman Wireless Society LPWS The Laughing Policeman Wireless Society for all radio communication enthusiasts, licensed or not. UK Charitable status. Quote from The Times newspaper

There could hardly be a more potent sign of society's descent into madness. Two of post-war Britain's most inoffensive icons-the Laughing Policeman and the radio ham-have been transformed into symbols of a bizarre but dangerous brand of terrorism.

Just had an email telling us that the Tony Hancock video, The Radio Ham was not working. It looks as if there was a copyright complaint, but it is public domain now and has been for years as the copyright expired. It has been restored now and you can find it here http://www.laughingpoliceman.com/video.htm

An almost full house of everything wrong with radio enthusiasts these days. Delusions of grandeur, cross dressing, gender bending, fraud, dishonesty, only paedophilia is missing.

Clive Dillon, or Jennifer Mallows, or Lady Guinevere Johnson G8YYL and Andrew Mallows G4FUZ. have faced charges and Clive did 30 months for fraud in the UK.

Nice to see what OFCOM spend our taxes on. We hope this improves your level of swearing on repeaters.

It is with unlimited indifference that we announce the belated death of Police Sergeant 3116, William Malcolm Bowden, G0MAL, Those of you that have been with us from the 1907s and 1980s will know of his antics and the way he pursued LPWS members, eventually to such an extent that the Deputy Chief Constable of West Midlands Police had to send a letter of apology. He distributed private and confidential details of LPWS members after lurking nearby our HQ in Kidderminster and presumably looking up details on the Police National Computer. He was involved in stalking, assault and various other unusual activities such as throwing a book at an LPWS member, kicking a briefcase, physical assault by attempted strangulation and other not so severe attacks. Threats ranged from getting known criminals to burgle houses and steal cars, as well as attempting to get Serious Crimes to investigate people for groundless drug dealing and importation. Eventually, he was offered demotion, or to retire as still a Sergeant, on medical grounds, so he could keep his higher rate pension.
Many of his activities are now criminal offences. Full details can be found on our website, it is worth listening to him on a phone call, and on an amateur radio repeater, both links on his page.

The BBC's recent blatant mis-editing of Donald Trump's speech to make it sound as if he said something completely fabricated, puts us us mind of the late 1980s. Voice activated recordings were made of local repeaters, and played back in case anyone said anything that could be manipulated. We then edited the recordings, making sure the call signs were clear, and came up with some quite inventive and bizarre recordings we could play back. This used to upset a lot of people when they were ridiculed for appearing to talk complete rubbish, but strangely enough was 100% legal, and and even listed as one of the few legitimate things we could do. No one at The Radiocommunications Agency foresaw the potential for ridicule! G4PQZ reprimanded someone for talking "HOO HAH" and we issued a cassette with various edits of him repeating this over and over followed by the call sign. Inevitably, whenever he was on and used his call sign, there was a chorus of "Hoo Hah" from the so-called sensible radio amateurs.
