We’ve been sent this photograph by Lisa, who came home after being out for the day to find her garden table had smashed in the heat.

Thankfully, this didn’t start a fire, but it’s a really worthwhile reminder that items left in direct sunlight can start fires.

These items are anything that reflect the sun - glass, mirrors, bottles - even decorative ornaments.

With the warm, sunny weather continuing, please take a few minutes to check around your home and garden:

don't leave glass bottles outside in direct sunlight
cover your glass recycling
cover garden tables with glass tops when they're outside
don't leave mirrors or other reflective items in or near windows.

Thanks to Lisa for sharing her photograph with us in the hope of helping others πŸ‘

After a visit with the Neighbourhood Services Team and the residents at Drumart House, everyone agreed that some changes were needed to make the building look brighter and more welcoming.

Working together with the residents, we carried out lots of improvements to the shared areas. The work helped make the building cleaner, fresher and more enjoyable for everyone who lives there.

Residents shared their ideas throughout the project, helping to shape the changes that were made. To finish things off, beautiful hanging baskets have been added at the entrance. They bring a splash of colour and give a warm welcome to residents and visitors.
The project shows what can be achieved when people work together to create a place that everyone can be proud of.
