BLAKEDOWN SIGNAL BOX IS OPEN AGAIN THIS SATURDAY MORNING.

It’s the second Saturday in April, and it’s Coffee (and Tea/Squash!) time as usual at the Signal Box, 10am-1pm.

On Saturdays twice a month - Home made cake just £1.50 a slice, with fresh coffee or tea £1.50, and free soft drinks for the kids.

Wave to the train guards – they do wave back!

On sale - the Pictorial history of Churchill and Blakedown (just £5 while stocks last), and Signal Box Badges to show you are a supporter (£3.50 also while stocks last).

The Signal Box is available for hire for £10 an hour, proceeds to The Churchill and Blakedown Villages Trust (Trustee: the Parish Council. Email enquries to: [email protected]).

There's a lift and loo inside. All abilities are welcome and can access the main gallery.

Hi all, we hope you’ve all had a wonderful Christmas and wish you all a Happy New Year!

Looking forward to this weekend, we normally have our coffee morning as it’s the second Saturday of the month, however currently we are waiting to see whether the lift will be fixed in time. It’s crucial for us that this is working.

There is also some suggestion that there could be some heavy snowfall Thursday/Friday and therefore we wouldn’t want to operate in those conditions due to slippery conditions.

Keep an eye out for our advert if we decide to open.

Yesterday, during a private ceremony, the ‘Signal Box Wildlife Garden’ was formally opened in memory of our late chairman Jim Long, in the presence of his Wife Vicki, son Andrew, family, friends and members of the Historical Society and Parish Council.

Such a fitting tribute to a true community stalwart.

Special thanks goes to Sue Fowler and Louise Harris for organising such a wonderful event, Marcus Hart for his wonderful eulogy, our Chairman Rob Handford for his tribute and Brian Hession for his speech.

We all miss you Jim. 💙
