We’ve just returned from our weekend adventure at cub camp. Full of laughter, games, movie night, navigation hike, Kelly kettles, wide games and obviously hot chocolate!
We settled into camp with a Lego movie film night, ready for a full on Saturday, where we stared with an 8.5k hike after breakfast with lunch at the park, a new experience getting to use Kelly kettles which involved lighting our fire in the base and boiling water to make hot chocolate. We then packed in a couple of wide games before dinner time and an evening campfire 🔥

For the final part of our community week both our Squirrels and Scouts visited Leicestershire Wildlife hospital.
There was a fantastic talk from all hospital and it was such a treat to be able to see just some of the many animals they look after.
Later in the term the scouts will be making hedgehog houses 🦔 don’t was fascinating to learn all about them and how they are cared for at the hospital.
We took donations of food and will be focusing some fundraising efforts towards helping the hospital this year.

As part of our groups community week, the Cubs were very kindly invited to Kibworth Court Residential Home, where staff organised joint activities for the residents and Cubs, they played games, told stories and enjoyed drinks and cake. There were some rather good and some rather interesting piano renditions but it was lovely to visit and see the smiles on the faces of residents and Cubs.

This week is community week and our Beavers headed out around the village litter picking, over two nights both colonies covered both parks and they collected a huge amount of rubbish, especially when there’s lots of bins available!

And just like that our year comes to another end!

We’ve had the most fabulous year, full of adventure and excitement! We’ve reached new heights and set new goals, pushing ourselves into new adventures and growing more and more!

This evening we ended the year together with a mix of activities and games on our land. Thank you to all our incredible volunteers both adult and young leaders who continue to simply be amazing!

Over the last two weeks the Cubs have been back outside even during the mega heatwave! Luckily there’s plenty of shade in the trees 🌳

They’ve spent some time cutting back an overgrown part of the land, pulling out all the brambles and weeds.
Then they build wooden squares to use to create a huge bug hotel, with some foraging they’ve started to fill them up.

Cub Jam, over and out…

We’ve had a fantastic weekend of fun and laughter, taking part in a whole host of activities at Cub Jam, with over 1000 cubs from across Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Rutland. 🤡🎪

Over the last few weeks our Cubs have been using their new gardening tools 🪏 that were donated by our local store.
They’ve enjoyed hours of fun digging and moving soil into their planters, and discovering and studying loads of mini-beasts and earth works. They then lashed bamboo and recycled old tent frames to create a trellis for their peas and runner beans to grow up.

We can’t wait for them to grow so we can use the outdoor kitchen to bread a yummy meal!

Thank you to our AMAZING volunteers!

We have over 40 incredible volunteers all giving their time each week, everything from running weekly activities, administrative jobs, building, gardening and more. Without each and everyone of them we simply wouldn’t be able to do what we do.

Our team are an amazing bunch of people and between them they not only create incredible experiences but they have a laugh, work together and get up to all kinds of shenanigans 🤣

It’s not very easy photographing our team since our main focus is on the young people… but here’s a few photos capturing an insight into volunteering with Kibworth Scouts from the past year.
