As we get ready for one last big summer gathering in the glorious grounds of Boughton House, we want to raise a reusable pint cup to one of the most beautiful places we've ever been lucky enough to call home. Here are just some of the reasons we love it.
1. Boughton doesn't reveal itself all at once. By the time you've arrived, you've already started leaving the rest of the world behind. Turn off the road and follow the winding drive through the estate towards the festival.
2. And then there it is. The lake. The woodland. The lawns. The avenues of trees disappearing into the distance. Boughton House isn’t called "the English Versailles" for nothing.
3. And for four days each summer we have the run of the place. There's something rather lovely about stepping out of your tent first thing in the morning, coffee brewing, and finding yourself in the grounds of a stately home before breakfast.
4. Beautiful places should be shared. Rolling fields and historic landscapes don't always make accessibility easy, but every year we lay miles of trackway and work hard to make as much of the site as possible accessible to as many people as possible.
5. It’s not just for looking at though. It's even better when you're making something, building something, painting something, or covering yourself in glue at one of our workshops. Sometimes the best way to appreciate a place is to get your hands dirty.
6. For kids of all ages, Greenbelt offers the chance to play games on the largest, poshest lawn you’ve ever kicked a ball or chucked a frisbee on, with magnificent views of the lake and mount. It’s our adventure playground for the weekend.
7. If you’re a city-lover who’s only used to seeing one or two stars at night, then do we have a treat for you. Get ready to see more stars in one night than you’ve seen in the past ten years.
8. Getting cold? Take a seat around the fire in the campsite each night, and enjoy the open skies and warmth of the flames.
9. We want to leave all of this natural wonder just how we found it at the end of the weekend. When the last song’s sung and the final tent’s down, we tidy up so well the only thing we leave are memories.
