June is Womb Cancer Awareness Month ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

Womb cancer is one of the most common gynaecological cancers in the UK, yet awareness is still low. Knowing the signs and seeking help early can make a real difference โ€” especially as many cases are identified through unusual or unexpected bleeding.

This month is about raising awareness, encouraging conversations, and reminding everyone to listen to their bodies. ๐Ÿ’›

At Kettering Macmillan Centre, weโ€™re here to support anyone affected by cancer โ€” offering a safe, welcoming space to talk, reflect, and focus on your wellbeing.

If something doesnโ€™t feel right, donโ€™t ignore it. And if you need support, you donโ€™t have to face it alone.

At Macmillan, we see first-hand how activities such as wellbeing walks, chair yoga, and peer support groups help people affected by cancer improve their physical and emotional wellbeing, reduce isolation, build confidence, and connect with others in their community.

These groups provide so much more than an activityโ€”they create friendships, inspire healthier lifestyles, and offer support when it is needed most.

๐Ÿ’š Help us recognise the incredible individuals and groups who make North Northamptonshire a healthier, happier, and more connected place to live.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Submit your nomination today and help shine a spotlight on their achievements.

Nominations are now OPEN for the Active Communities Awards 2026!

Do you know a local hero, group or club making a difference through sport or wellbeing? Nowโ€™s your chance to recognise them.

๐Ÿ’™ Menโ€™s Health Week โ€“ Letโ€™s Talk About It

This Menโ€™s Health Week, weโ€™re highlighting the importance of men speaking openly about their health and seeking support when they need it.

At Macmillan, we know conversations can save lives. Too often, men delay getting help or talking about symptoms โ€” but early support and awareness can make a real difference.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Itโ€™s okay to talk about:
โ€ข Physical health concerns
โ€ข Emotional wellbeing
โ€ข Cancer symptoms and screening
โ€ข Getting support early

Weโ€™re also working in partnership with organisations such as talkSPORT, Toolstation, and Greene King to help break down stigma and encourage open conversations about menโ€™s health.

Letโ€™s keep the conversation going โ€” because looking after your health is a strength, not a weakness. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’š Menโ€™s Health Week โ€“ Know the Facts

This Menโ€™s Health Week, weโ€™re raising awareness of menโ€™s health and the importance of early detection and open conversations.

๐Ÿ“Š Did you know?
โ€ข Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the UK
โ€ข There were 68,218 cases of prostate cancer diagnosed, accounting for more than 3 in 10 (30.6%) of all new cancer cases in men in the UK
โ€ข In the most recently available data, there were 423,884 cases of cancer in the UK
โ€ข Of these, 222,874 were in men

These figures highlight why awareness, early diagnosis, and talking about symptoms really matter. ๐Ÿ’š

If something doesnโ€™t feel right, donโ€™t ignore it โ€” speak to your GP. Early action can make a real difference.

Letโ€™s keep the conversation going and encourage the men in our lives to look after their health.
