✨ Derwent Water looking beautiful from my walk up Walla Crag today, finishing at Ashness Pier.

Sadly, the view came with more than just scenery – I filled two bags with rubbish along the way. There was still more I couldn’t carry, but I had to remind myself: I might not be able to pick it all up, but doing something is always better than doing nothing. 🌍💚

Todays Only Footprints Hero: .se_ 👣

Today’s shoutout goes to Alice, who’s currently travelling through Austria. On her hike up Schober and Frauenkopf, she came across this brilliant sign — and made sure to follow its advice by taking all her rubbish back down with her.

The best part? She got to enjoy incredible views from the top, knowing she’d left the trail just as beautiful for the next person. 🌲✨

Because if you can carry it up full, you can carry it down empty. 💪

Let’s all protect these stunning places — one hike, one wrapper, one good decision at a time.

Spotted this sign today and it says it perfectly:
“Leave only pawprints, bag it and take it home.” 🐾

Dog waste isn’t just unpleasant — it’s harmful to people, wildlife, and the environment. Even when it’s bagged, leaving it behind or tossing it into the bushes isn’t a solution. The plastic sticks around far longer than we might think, and it doesn’t belong in natural places.

We all have a part to play in keeping the outdoors clean and safe — please bag it, and take it with you until you find a proper bin.

Let’s protect these places we love. 💚🌿

Just a bag, a glove (or litter picker if you have one), and a spare hand on your next walk is all it takes to help keep our paths and places clean.

Even picking up one or two bits of rubbish can brighten up a trail and protect nature.

While out on a lovely dog walk on Beverley Westwood, she joined the movement to help protect the places we all enjoy. 🐾💚
