All of us at Calvert Stables are incredibly saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Neil Frame.
Neil was an amazing vet and a genuinely allround nice guy with a fantastic sense of humour. Neil was a great supporter of the work we do here and was always on hand to give advice about our horses health and welfare, we feel honoured to have worked with him.

Neil will be sorely missed in our community and our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this time.

It is with immense sadness that we let all our friends and clients know that Neil Frame died suddenly this weekend. Neil was a husband, father, grandfather, friend and immensely dedicated vet. His passion for veterinary care was an inspiration to our team and was instrumental in the progression of our practice from premises in Angel Lane in 1979 to our current building. Neil always had his patient’s welfare at the forefront of his mind and was well known for forthright communication with owners when the recovery of his patients depended on it. He would be absolutely adamant that the vet work must continue, so we are open as usual but please understand if emotions are showing. Our thoughts are with Neil’s family. He will be greatly missed by us all.

🦄 pony of the month 🦄

Our next pony of the month is Frankie! He is a 14.1hh and 15 years old. He is a piebald cob. Frankie has a very cheeky personality and is very well loved on the yard by everybody!

He is a ride and drive cob and enjoys all aspects of his job. He takes many community lessons to help people develop with their riding and also enjoys lovely hacks out. You can always rely on Frankie to make you smile as he is such a lovely chap 🐴🐴

He is very excited for you to follow along his busy little life! 🥕

🦄pony of the month 🦄

(Slightly delayed due to a very busy but fun week)

This week is Busters final week as pony of the month and it’s been very exciting. He went on a really nice hack with his friend Billy, he met lots of people to say hello to 🐴

Due to the hot weather he earned himself a refreshing treat and got stuck in to the apple ice lolly’s the children made for him on own a pony day, he says yum yum 🍎🍎

Thanks for following Buster this month and we hope you all love him as much as we do! ❤️

Own a pony day! 🐴

Our first own a pony day was a success even in the heat! ☀️

All of the children had a fun filled day learning all about caring for your very own pony, and especially caring for your pony in hot weather!

We started the day riding a course of activities which was timed to find the winning group. We then groomed the ponies and did the day to day yard jobs involved with their care. As a special hot day treat we made the horses ice lolly’s and gave them nice baths!🛀

We finished the day doing a little bit of horse themed craft to cool down before handing out the rosettes that everyone massively deserved!

It’s a wrap 🎉

Our stables open day was a great success, thank you to everyone to attended,donated and helped us to have a fabulous day!

Everyone had fun taking part in the activities, even the ponies joined in and won some prizes in the lucky dip 🙈

Don't forget its our Open Day this Monday 11am to 2pm.

Our stables open day will give you chance to say hello to our gentle horses, to see where they live and work, meet the Stables Team and to learn about how special the Calvert Stables are! 👋🐎🤩

We have meet the ponies sessions in the arena around 11.15am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

Tricia Rham will be doing a McTimoney demo around 11.45am and will be here to talk about how McTimoney works.
There will be a Raffle, Tombola, Crafts, Games and some of our lovely Merchandise for sale, all supporting our amazing stables.

Why not make a walk out of your visit, we are located very close to the stunning Keswick to Threlkeld railway walk, the weather is looking promising and we will have free refreshments and of course cake!! 😍

Only a week to go until our Open Day, we are celebrating 50 years of Calvert in 2026.
Come and meet our amazing team of horses, staff and volunteers.
