KYC, in conjunction with Kessingland PC is a group where young people going into school year 5 to age 16 can meet for active games, arts & craft, snacks available from tuck shop.

Some photos as promised from Aprils food/baking eve plus last week. Some really creative cupcakes with cheesy broccoli pasta and spag bolognese in April with some eager helpers in kitchen and pizza and hotdogs last week.

We had a further 6 new members join us in May.

Reminder that we are shut for half term this week. During the summer school holidays we will shut alternate weeks - dates will be published by mid July.

What a good month April has been with 8 new members registering to come along to the KYC on Wednesday evenings from 6/30-8/30 to enjoy the activities and social catch up with friends. We also welcome Reg as a volunteer- he worked with Darren and myself at the old Hangout youth club quite a few years ago!! We will be open first 3 weeks of May and closed for half term.

3 of our members from "our voice" who represent other members, attended the Kessingland Parish meeting with myself to find out what is going on in and around the village, they reported back that it was a good experience and gave them insight as to who is who on the PC.

As mentioned previously should members not attend for a full term they will be removed from the members register however can rejoin once a new consent form is filled out and returned. By doing this it let's others join rather than having to create a waiting list. There will be approx 80 registered once I've sorted this out for this term with 35-40 YP attending each week.

We had a busy eve this week making and decorating Easter cup cakes and chocolate crunch cakes. Thanks Darren for organising this which is a life skill for our members in cooking and sharing tasks and resourses.

Reminder that the KYC is NOT open on 8th and that any members who have not attended this term will be taken off our registration however may rejoin once a new consent form is completed and returned.

We welcomed new team member Lana and volunteer Danielle this month keeping our adult/child ratio at safe levels and hopefully enabling members to take part in some outside activities now that the eve are lighter.

March has almost ended and despite the less than favorable weather we had 3 new members and total of 40 attend the KYC this week. We welcome Lana as our newest team leader bringing us back up to 5 leaders with 5 volunteers. If anyone wishes to volunteer please see poster within the photos, call into the KYC on a Wednesday eve or contact the Parish Council. Photos are from last week when pizza and pancakes were on the menu. The sloth round my neck in photo is a hug giver. If any member is feeling a bit down they can have a hug from Sid/Syd/Sidney.

I will be giving a report at the annual Parish meeting tonight (27th) at Church hall from 7pm, with couple of "our voice" members who are a junior comittee group of the KYC to showcase some of our activities.

As always a big THANK YOU for the continued support that is given to the KYC it means a lot to our members and team leaders.

Here we are in the last couple of days of February and supposedly its Springtime next week. 🤔🌷🌼🌻

We've had another busy month at the KYC with the new activity tables - slightly on the small side for some as the photos show - however storage had to be taken into account and it has added to the fun of playing the different games.

Chinese new year was celebrated last week on our hot food night,🍲🥢 which we hold once a month, with sweet and sour chicken as the main dish. Many thanks to Corlina who donated fortune cookies,🥠 prawn crackers, decorations and to the chefs/kitchen team for making it another successful exerience for our members.

Opening dates for March are 4th, 18th and 25th. The KYC closes for 10 sessions during the year and future dates will be advised once agreed.

As always I thank everyone involved for the continued support given to the KYC. This reflects in the number of young people attending which averages 40 members each week with 80 registered.

We're almost into February and Spring is around the corner - hopefully - although it doesn't feel like it today with the rain and wind.

As in our poster the KYC is open every week in February with a Chinese New Year food night planned. The other photos are from our food night last week , the burgers and hot dogs all dissapeared.

Our other poster shows that a vacancy for a youth leader has become available. Details as to how to apply are at bottom of poster and should anyone wish an informal visit on a Wednesday eve next month please get in touch.

Although schools are back next week the KYC will not be open due to maintenance work at the KSSC. Open 14th, 21st and 28th January
