Even after the file was highlighted and issues found there was still massive delays and a parent having to chase up care for her child. This is unnacceptable, behind these stories are children and families who have been subject to malpractice. Misdiagnosis, wrongly medicated, horrific effects from the medication and stress and anxiety from finding out that the service they waited years for and probably fought to get their child into actually damaged them. The North Kerry review needs to be finished and these families need help and support. The only difference between South Kerry and North Kerry is an imaginary boundary, the children and families are very real

The recruitment process for a consultant has been long and still ongoing. The HSE consider the Maskey recomendation of recruiting a consultant 'filled' as they have telemedicine from Dubai and a consultant from Galway covering at the weekends. This is of course an improvement and in some cases service users might prefer using the telemedicine method but it is still not a full-time consultant

Unfortunately what was uncovered in this report was all to familiar to those in Kerry either implicated by The Maskey Report or recieving care from CAMHS. Very predicatable findings but what is actually being done about it. The Government and HSE 'accept the findings' of the report but what is changing? The waiting lists are increasing, children with dual diagnosis are being told they are referred to wrong service. Children with autism apparently can't have mental health issues, its just their autism. When will everyone work together for the good of the child?

First case to go through and recieve an award with the compensation scheme. We have repeatedly called for a public enquiry, the trust in CAMHS and the mental health system is at an all time low. We support any calls for a public enquiry and the reform of CAMHS for the sake of our childrens mental health. The future of Ireland

Cant really understand why families who have been discovered or come forward since the release of The Maskey Report and then recieved apologies are having to fight to be added to The Scheme. The fact that many families in North Kerry where treated by the same 'rogue Dr' surely shows that these cases need to be looked at. It also shows that there must have been issues in North Kerry as the deficits in care where not highlighted by the team, maybe because it was also there standard practice?
