What's On - The Hazlitt Theatre

07/07/2026

We are aware of comments made about the market on social media.

Whilst we would not normally respond to social media posts, we feel we have no choice but to correct certain statements.

The SCC has not put prices up since 2025.

We have made a substantial reduction in price for the market in an effort to support a community event, compared to normal private hires, almost half price.

The market has not paid anything towards their 4 hires for this year to date.

The Village halls are entirely funded by the fees we charge hirers, and we get no money from other sources. We cannot survive if our hirers do not pay what they owe, though we try to help as much as we can.

We are currently having part of our roof renovated.
Scaffolders have secured the site and all efforts possible have been made to try and prevent access but it appears some teenagers are trying to get up on the roof.
Please tell your children building sites are not playgrounds but dangerous.
Today footage has already been passed to the police as criminal damage has also occurred.
