County Lines and criminal exploitation was the issue based subject this week for the 90 Minute Programme.

We were pleased to invite Marcus from On The Verge to speak to the group of young people from West Leeds about how criminal gangs target and exploit children , young people and adults into selling drugs.

Check out all our weekly youth clubs & mobile provision for young people across the Pudsey ward, Calverley and Farsley Ward and the Farnley and Wortley ward !!

No need to be bored ever again!

Sessions are FREE to attend (unless stated) and are open to all young people aged 11+

Our new mobile provision parks at various locations and has free WiFi, gaming, art & craft, snacks, board games and friendly youth workers.

Our centre based provision has all of the above, plus pool, table tennis and table football.

All our sessions are welcoming new members, so please just turn up!

Talking to a pupil about their wellbeing can feel daunting, particularly when you are unsure what to say or worried about hearing something concerning.

Our latest guide reminds educators that they do not need to be specialists to provide meaningful support.

The guide explores:
• Building warm, trusting relationships
• Choosing a safe and appropriate place to talk
• Using side-by-side conversations to reduce pressure
• Staying calm when a pupil shares a concern
• Being clear and honest about confidentiality
• Knowing when to involve safeguarding colleagues or seek support yourself

It also includes practical conversation starters to help staff open discussions gently and give pupils space to talk when they are ready.

We have loads of activities on offer, indoor sports, gaming, music, art & craft, table tennis and qualified youth workers to chat to about issues affecting young people.

We have free juice and snacks too!

While some content centres on grooming, skincare, diet and exercise, other parts of the trend can promote questionable advice, extreme practices and unrealistic expectations.

Our latest guide explores key concerns, including:

The group at Sunnybank Mills had a fantastic art session delivered by Beth.

The session was part of the Dyevolution Heritage Project.
The young people learnt about natural plant dyes and the progression to synthetic dyes.

They put their new found knowledge to good use by using the dyes to tie-dye various textiles.

The young people really enjoyed the session and created some fantastic textiles.

The youth board for Pride In Place - Farnley East met recently.

They were updated by staff from the Communities Team on what the adult board have been working on.

The group also took a walk around the area to pick suitable locations for the new Little Libraries to be situated.

They discussed ideas for a Christmas event, gave their opinions on ideas for the telephone box. Plus helped approve funding applications that have been received at Farnley East Pride in Place

The meeting ended with a few team games, and some yummy pizza.

Looking forward to the next session in October half term. The young people will be undertaking a certified First Aid course.
