Massive congratulations to our fearless Maternity & Neonatal ‘Over the Edge’ team who successfully and safely abseiled down Portsmouth’s iconic Spinnaker Tower on Sunday 7 June. 👏😎👏

The team showed incredible courage, as none of them had ever abseiled before. As they put it: “If facing our fears helps raise funds to support the tiny fighters and their families, then it’s 100% worth it.” 💜💜💜

These amazing fundraisers have raised more than £2,500 for our Darent Valley Hospital Maternity & Neonatal Little Buds Fund, and we cannot thank them enough for their outstanding grit, determination and generosity. 🙏🙏

Well done to every one of you — your bravery and kindness will make a real difference to the babies and families we support. 💜💜

Charity Cricket Match 2026 – Apollo Taxis vs DGT 🏏

On Sunday 7th June, an Apollo Taxis Gravesend Ltd XI and our very own DGT XI met at Gravesend Cricket Club for the second annual charity cricket match 🏏.

After DGT claimed victory in the inaugural fixture last year, Apollo Taxis were determined to level the series. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Apollo posted an impressive 262 runs from their 35 overs.😃👏

DGT's chase began positively but with overcast conditions providing plenty of assistance for the bowlers, wickets began to fall at regular intervals. A spirited fightback from the lower order and retired batsmen kept hopes alive, but DGT ultimately fell just 23 runs short, finishing on 239 all out. 👏🫣

Congratulations to Apollo Taxis on a well-deserved victory, levelling the series at 1-1 and setting up an exciting decider next year. 😎👍

Most importantly, thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, an incredible £2,000 👏🙏was raised throughout the day in support of Cancer Services at DGT

A huge thank you to Verinder, Kuldip, Zoe and all at from Apollo Taxis, alongside DGT's very own Dr Prasad Vyakarnam, for their hard work in co-organising another fantastic event. 😄🙏🙏😀

Allez, Allez! What an incredible achievement! 💜🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

On 15 May, the Purple Army Peloton from Flotek Ltd took on the challenge of virtually cycling the distance from St Asaph to Plymouth in memory of their colleague Malc's father, John.

What began as a heartfelt tribute became an inspiring display of teamwork, determination, community spirit and fundraising in support of Cancer Research UK and our very own Valley Hospital Charity Cancer Fighting Fund.

We're absolutely delighted to share that this fantastic challenge raised an incredible £1,935 for our Pine Therapy Cancer Unit, where John received treatment. The unit provided invaluable support to John and his family during an extremely difficult time, and they were keen to give back by helping support other patients and families facing similar journeys.☺️

A huge thank you to Malc's family and everyone at Flotek who cycled, donated, supported, cheered from the sidelines and helped spread the word. Every contribution will make a real difference to patients receiving care through Pine Therapy.

Your generosity has helped turn John's legacy into something truly meaningful for others.🙏 💜🙏

⛳️What a fantastic day!

On Friday 29th May, we proudly hosted our 5th Valley Hospital Charity Golf Day, returning to Bearsted Golf Club for a third consecutive year of golfing excellence, community spirit and fundraising. 😎😃

This year we were delighted to have the incredible support of Bauvill Ltd, who not only sponsored the event but also provided the wonderful Molly and Hannah, whose enthusiasm and support helped make the day run so smoothly.

A total of 19 teams took to the course for a 9am shotgun start and from the off the competition was fierce! 🏌🏻‍♂️🏌🏻‍♀️

DGT's very own Malli Satisha (Team DGT1) claimed the individual title with an outstanding 44 Stableford points while the team trophy was scooped by Pursglove Team 2, captained by Chris Johnson, who secured a remarkable third team title and further cemented their place in our Golf Day history! 👏👏

Most importantly, thanks to the generosity of our players, supporters and sponsor we raised an incredible £10,559 for our charity. 😀🙏😀

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, purchased raffle tickets, bid in the auction and contributed to making the day such a memorable success. 🙏🙏🙏

We look forward to seeing you all again next year! 👍

A huge shout out to Sarah and Emily from Primark in Bluewater, who visited Walnut Ward on Tuesday and generously donated a comprehensive array of essential items for our babies and rooming-in parents.

This thoughtful donation included nappies, wipes, nappy sacs, muslins, vests, socks, scratch mittens, cot blankets and comforters for the babies, as well as toiletries, flip flops, hair brushes, hair bands, lip salve, moisturisers, and shower gels for our rooming in parents.

We are so very thankful to Primark for this latest donation and appreciate their commitment to continue supporting SCBU throughout the year with fundraising events and other initiatives. 😀👍

Thank you so much to Sarah, Emily and all at the store for their fantastic kindness and support. 🙏🙏
