The past two sessions of YAC have been very full. We did a dig of cup and ring marks in Aberfeldy with Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust and DunkeldYAC. Some of the group were drawing some of the marks and others were digging and found bits of old farming equipment.

We then last Saturday had a session of foraging and cooking. Found rosehips, elder and rowan berries, horse chestnuts, and yarrow as well as radish pods from the Crannog kitchen garden.

We made an apple, berry and yarrow compote that customers enjoyed and attempted to start the process of making soap from the horse chestnuts.

Our sessions over the summer have been very exciting and action packed.

We had lovely volunteers Jim and Jo teaching the group about fire starting methods both prehistoric and modern.

Wessex Archaeology's Steph and Ben came along and taught the group about marine archaeology including boats, charting and compasses. They also got the chance to look at artefacts that have been found including a mammoth tooth!

The group are very grateful for the speakers and would love for them to come back!!

There has also been musical instrument and song making, cooking and rock art. It has been an exciting summer at the Centre and there is more to come as we head into the end of August, September and October!
