So, how did we get on at the Big Fix last Saturday? We successfully mended the Kenilworth Town Mayor Alison Insley - Councillor for Kenilworth St John's Town machine for firing squash balls! We had 37 repairs plus a few garden tool sharpening. So far this year we've tackled 132 repairs with a success rate of 71%. All in all it was a very satisfactory day for our volunteers, they get quite sad when they don't achieve a repair!

So proud to represent our Repair Cafe yesterday at the Parliamentary Repair Cafe hosted by Back Market and the The Restart Project. Over 100 MPs had already signed the Repair and Reuse Declaration and I was delighted that Jeremy Wright MP joined me to add his signature.
So many Repair Cafes there sharing so many great ideas, we will certainly be bringing some of them to our monthly events. Did have to show off the card produced by Diane Shores that so wonderfully represents our cafe and community!

How do Repair Cafe Kenilworth volunteers have fun when it's not a Repair Cafe Saturday?! By holding another successful afternoon keeping busy and helping the children at Priors Field School.
This is what they told us -
Year 3 were very excited on Wednesday to meet the volunteers of the Repair Cafe. The children brought in broken toys and bikes for support in mending them - a real lesson in sustainability. They were also invited to make jewellery, sew cat faces, make pom poms, dismantle toys to see how they worked, learn how to cross stitch and programme a sewing machine to make bookmarks. It was a great afternoon and the children couldn't believe how quickly the time went.
One young lady said ' the bicycle repair was great we mended my bike and I enjoyed changing a tyre.'
Another young man said that the Repair Cafe was good and he spent 'all afternoon dismantling toys to see how they worked!'
And finally one thought that the Repair Cafe was great 'because it was good learning how to fix and bike and fun too.'

Yay!!! A Library of Things in Leamington!!! Maybe it has just the item you need to borrow.

Residents in Leamington and the surrounding area can now borrow a range of items, from specialist DIY tools to kitchen gadgets, thanks to the growing Leamington Library of Things. Link in the comments.

Thank you to all of those who came to the Repair Cafe this afternoon and donated so generously to the Warwickshire Foodbanks Trussell We swapped a few cans of beans for other food stuffs AND will be able to give them £250. Our community is amazing. We had a busy afternoon and the vibes as always were great.
