If you love wildlife, this is an amazing charity to get involved with.

You'll meet lots of lovely, kind, incredibly caring people, along with beautiful animals, and be able to make a real difference to the incredible wildlife in our area.

Day-shift volunteers need to be able to commit a minimum of 5 hours, one day a week (9am-2pm/ Mon-Sun), and transport and evening volunteers are also needed with availability after 5pm.

Duties include feeding and cleaning out the residents, which range from hedgehogs to birds of prey and everything in-between, and administering some basic medical treatments if you would like to be trained in this. There are also household & maintenance chores to help keep the rescue and yard clean and tidy. It takes a village to ensure that every animal gets the best possible care 💚

The rescue is based just outside of Settle, in Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

If you would like to get involved, please get in touch via [email protected] 🦔

HELP! It's our busiest time of the year and we urgently need volunteers for evening shifts and also transport volunteers. On our evening shift (5pm onwards) you can either help support the running of the rescue by helping with housekeeping, or learn to care for our wonderful wildlife patients. Our transport volunteers are on hand if any sick animal needs transporting from A to B quickly. We need transport volunteers spread as widely across the Yorkshire Dales and beyond as possible. If you are interested in finding out more, please email [email protected]
Thank you.

New research is confirming something many of us feel instinctively... spending time in nature doesn’t just support mental wellbeing - it can also help us build a kinder, more positive relationship with our bodies.

A global study of more than 50,000 people across 58 countries found that connection with nature increases self-compassion, body appreciation and overall life satisfaction. Instead of focusing on appearance, nature helps us reconnect with what our bodies do: breathe, move, rest, explore, feel. 💚

In a world constantly telling us to criticise ourselves, the natural world offers something radically different: space to slow down, space to belong, and space to simply just 'be'.

This is why access to green spaces matters. Nature connection isn’t a luxury, it’s part of wellbeing, community and health for all.

So this week, the invitation is simple: go for a walk, sit under a tree, listen to the birds, feel the ground beneath your feet.

Nature has a way of reminding us we are already enough. 🌱

Scientists reveal how a connection with nature unlocks a more positive outlook on life.

As we reach the end of Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, we have taken some time to reflect on the work that we do to improve mental health across all of our programmes. What is proven time and time again, is that being in Nature has a significant impact on mental wellbeing and our numbers prove it!

If you're looking for mood boosting activities, we'd love to see you at one of our sessions! In the meantime, remember the 5 ways to wellbeing!

Be active - Go outside for a walk or explore your nearest nature reserve
Connect - With the people around you, share your wildlife experiences
Give - Do something to help your local place and the people that live there
Take notice - Of the everyday wildness on your doorstep
Learn - Try something new outside

There are lots of useful resources you can find on the website to help even more!
