It's time to gradually bid farewell to the Summer as we usher in the beautiful Autumn season. To help with the transition, we have prepared a programme of nature-centric wellbeing events, workshops, training opportunities, independent forest school sessions, youth club evenings, family SEND forest school sessions and more. So, diaries at the ready, have a look at our September newsletter and start getting excited!

"In a world of technology where so many of us are disconnected from nature, if organisations like ours arenโ€™t out there saying, 'Try it', then we risk losing that connection altogether."

Get Out More CIC is a social enterprise on a mission to strengthen wellbeing, both physical and mental, by connecting people with nature. They believe 'we need nature, and nature needs us now more than ever'.

We spoke to Sue, their Project Coordinator...

โ€œI help run different projects like the Forest School and wellbeing sessions. I work in nurseries, doing lots of outdoor nature connection activities. I do admin, keep track of impact, and go out into the community to network and find new groups we might work with. I love the flexibility. I can come up with ideas and say, 'Can we do this?'.

The best part of my job is seeing people change. Some of the adults I work with are grieving, lonely, or struggling with low mood. They donโ€™t always say it, but you can see it, and then you see them relax, open up, and they keep coming back. Thatโ€™s when I know weโ€™re doing something that matters. Being outdoors is good for me too, itโ€™s physical, sometimes hard, but I get a real sense of achievement from it.

What really hits me is when people say they didnโ€™t know they could walk in a local park, or they didnโ€™t know the names of trees. We help people reconnect with the natural world and realise they belong in it. In a world of technology where so many of us are disconnected from nature, if organisations like ours arenโ€™t out there saying, 'Try it', then we risk losing that connection altogether.

I was a stay-at-home mum for 12 years, and I loved it. But when I started thinking about going back to work, I knew I needed to do something I enjoyed, and nothing was going to be more important than my kids. I saw a Facebook post about a 10-week course called Outdoor Futures, and it just spoke to me. I met a group of people I never would have met in my mum bubble, and by week 8 I said, 'Thatโ€™s it, sign me up for Level 3!' After freelancing for a while, I got offered a part-time role and said yes, please, and I havenโ€™t looked back.โ€

Exciting things are happening in Keighley! We have teamed up with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Street Space and Better Place Bradford to deliver an inspiring new project called Natureโ€™s Way. Funded by Bradford Council, the project is all about helping inner-city communities bring neglected outdoor spaces back to life, creating greener, healthier neighbourhoods for both people and wildlife.

05/08/2026

New research from The Wildlife Trust highlights a harsh reality: too many people are being left without easy access to nature, despite the proven benefits for health, wellbeing and quality of life. Across England, 44% of parliamentary constituencies have low access to green and blue spaces within a 15-minute walk of where they live.

These findings won't surprise many people in Bradford. We regularly meet local residents who want to spend more time in nature but face barriers such as limited nearby green spaces, poor transport links or a lack of confidence about getting outdoors.

The benefits of nature for wellbeing are clear, but access to those benefits remains unequal. That's why we're passionate about creating opportunities for people to connect with nature close to home and making sure everyone can experience the positive impact it can have on health, confidence and community life.

Keep an eye on our page and learn about opportunities for you to get out more.
