The JTS Gallery is contemporary arts space in Johnstone, Renfrewshire.

We host a year-round programme of exhibitions, events, films, literature, workshops, and performances celebrating cloth, community, and creativity.

We had our first drop off for the Fashion Boutique yesterday!

Jay Li is a regular at our Weekly Sewing Group on Fridays, and is renowned for his intricate sock knits.

“I’m Jay, a handknitter and swordfighter based in Johnstone. I’m inspired by vintage patterns, medieval manuscripts, and all kinds of weird and wonderful objects that I find in charity shops.”

Jay will be selling the following at the Fashion Boutique:

🧦Mini sock keyring: £10. Hand knitted from upcycled mill ends and yarn tails.
🧦Mini sock knitting pattern: £3
🧦Queer Eye sock knitting pattern: £5
🧦Meshilicious sock knitting pattern: £5

The Fashion Boutique will be running from 11th November - 5th December as part of the Scottish Fashion Festival. Come along and see the incredible work by Scottish designers!

CALLING FASHION DESIGNERS & MAKERS

As part of Scottish Fashion Festival this November, we’re transforming JTS into a Fashion Boutique - and we want you to be part of it!

From 11 November – 5 December, our gallery will become a space celebrating Scottish fashion, independent designers and textile makers, showcasing beautiful and original pieces for visitors to discover and shop.

We’re particularly looking for designers based in Renfrewshire and the Glasgow area, but this call-out is open to designers across Scotland.

Want to take part? Send us:

✨A short bio & description of your work.
✨3 - 5 photos of your work. This could be garments, accessories, unique handmade creations.
✨Prices of these pieces.

We will be hosting Meet the Makers talks from 2 - 4pm on Saturdays during November. Let us know if you are interested in speaking about your work and practice!

✨Designers receive 70% of the sale price of their pieces.

STODDARD STORIES - our new exhibition at JTS!

Over 143 years, Stoddard’s carpet factory in Elderslie became more than just a workplace – it grew into a thriving hub for the local community. From 1862 until its site closure in 2003, generations of Renfrewshire families crossed the field, clocked in, and contributed to the production and sale of one of Scotland’s most valuable creative assets of the twentieth century: Stoddard’s renowned carpets. This exhibition draws on the memories of those who worked within the factory’s walls – from the skilled designers to the meticulously organised admin staff who kept the company running for over a century. This is the story of Stoddard’s, told straight from the workers’ mouths.
