Bilton Hall Community Trust was originally set up as Low Simonside Community Association in 1979, a former school site which transferred to the now Simonside Primary School The Community Centre works in partnership with others to respond to and initiate activities and events which benefit the Bede Ward Community which it serves and the wider population. All activity an

d sections have an educational, sport, recreational or social function which is an integral part of people’s lives. The charity is managed by a small volunteer lead team and a board of trustees which are local people who work on behalf of local people of all age groups. We actively encourage and support local volunteers, some of whom lead and support the ongoing groups within the community centre. Young People

Parent and Toddlers group, Youth Club for 5 to 8 year olds, Play Development 5 to 14 year old section, Juniors/Seniors Boxing Club, Girls Dance Group, Summer Play Scheme

Social Groups

Over 50’s clubs, Creative crafts, Family Art and Craft, Social dance, Line Dancing, General knowledge quiz

Health Initiatives

Healthy eating courses, walking groups, Self Care & Lifestyle courses, Holistic therapies Pamper days, Health Awareness sessions

Educational Courses

Basic Skills courses, Classroom Assistants, Flower arranging, Card Making, IT courses, Accredited Food Handling, First Aid, Health and Safety

Fab turn out at our Porlock Community Gardens annual family fun day. Thanks to Karen Layton and the rest of the friends of Porlock volunteers to pull off a fantastic day.

The Friday Night Project staff were there with the wormary, planting crafts and engaging the community into how they can get inolved in volunteering and learning to grow through the Northern Gas Networks project

With special thanks to for funding us to put on so many community trips so that all members of the community experience at least 1 trip, from older people, to home education group, to youth club clubs and hole family trips

We are planning our next round of trips come September so leave your feedback here and make suggestions for where we should go next

Hasnt summer flew over. We mark the end of summer2026 with our summer program across Jarrow. We saw over 466 places filled and 5 big trips out along with local park trips, foraging at Porlock Gardens and youth led activities.

Children form Low Simonide, scotch estate and central Jarrow benefited from the 4 week program that was funded by HAF.
