At Irlam and Cadishead Youth Project, we provide safe and age-appropriate creative, educational, recreational play and youth work provision for children and young people aged from five to nineteen years of age, living in the Salford area. We particularly work in the South locality of Irlam and Cadishead, diverting young people away from crime, antisocial behaviour and substance abuse, and improvi
ng their self-esteem and skills, to help them to perform better in school and develop personally and professionally. During the sessions, we offer a wide range of activities for the children and young people to take part in, such as sports (football, table tennis, etc.), creative activities such as arts and crafts, dance, drama and MC-ing, graffiti and t-shirt making workshops, filming sessions, trips and outings and we offer help, information and support in areas such as health and substance issues. These sessions are aimed at improving the children and young peoples’ emotional and mental wellbeing and provide them with a safe environment, where they have a chance to be physically active. For some day trips, or overnight trips that we run during school holidays and half terms, we may charge a small fee if necessary. We involve the young people we work with, with the governing of the company and decision making, ensuring that their voices are heard in the community, and that we are offering services that they are interested in participating in and that they will gain something from, whether it be a skill, confidence, or the chance to do something they would not ordinarily be able to take part in. We accept referrals from the local schools and organisations for children that may need extra support and would benefit from creative, social, educational and recreational activities, and those identified with having issues with drugs, alcohol, antisocial behaviour, self-harming, low self-esteem and those with ADHD
(Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) or ASP (Asperger’s Syndrome)
