🚨 This Volunteers Week, we are throwing the spotlight on one of our INCREDIBLE volunteers who do so much to support the work of Brave Futures! 🚨

We are SO lucky to have a brilliant team of dedicated and passionate volunteers, but we're always on the lookout for new supporters to bring their own skills and expertise.

Today we’re celebrating Phil, one of the incredible volunteers who has been helping Brave Futures, with just about anything, since 2019. From talking about our work to taking part in fundraising events, he is passionate about the work of the charity.

We are so excited about this event, it’s fast approaching, and we are thrilled and incredibly lucky to be one of the joint beneficiaries.

A huge thank you to Bury Abbey Rotary Club for organising this fantastic event and for their continued support of local charities.

We will have a stand at the show, where you can find out more about our work, including our referral services and the growing need for support across West Suffolk. Events like this are more important than ever.

This time next week, the Ipswich Waterfront will be buzzing with excitement as 33 teams compete to be crowned our champions! 🏆

We have some fantastic entertainment lined up throughout the day, and we're delighted to be joined by our media partner, Suffolk Sound.

We are incredibly grateful to be one of the three chosen charities Darren has picked to support during his term as Mayor! We can’t wait for the year ahead. 🩵

I’m proud and excited to announce my three Mayor’s Charities for this year, each of which supports children, young people, and families at moments of real vulnerability here in Felixstowe and beyond.

Pitstop
Pitstop is a volunteer run, community driven organisation based in Felixstowe, providing essential items, practical help, and a safe, welcoming space for anyone facing hardship. “Every item they receive is donated freely, and every item they give out is rehomed freely - clothing, buggies, nappies, toys, books, blankets, shoes, even small electricals.”

Dora Brown
Dora Brown supports families in crisis, particularly where homes have broken down due to neglect, furniture poverty, or hygiene poverty. Their volunteers clear rubbish, deep clean, organise belongings, and provide donated furniture and essentials so that “homes become safer and healthier, children have space to play, and parents feel less overwhelmed.”

Brave Futures
Brave Futures is a specialist organisation supporting children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse, with a dedicated hub here in Felixstowe. They currently see around ten children every week locally, offering trauma‑informed, non‑time‑limited support so that young people can rebuild their lives, reclaim their childhoods, and rediscover a sense of safety and hope.

Although each charity works in a different way, they share a common purpose: “supporting children, young people, and families at moments of real vulnerability with kindness, dignity, and compassion.” Together, they reflect the very best of Felixstowe.

Over the coming days, I’ll be sharing more about each charity, the work they do, and the difference they make to people in our town.

Just 2 weeks to go until our Dragon Boat Festival at Ipswich Waterfront! 🐉🚣‍♀️

We’re getting so close now and the excitement is really starting to build.

Not racing? Come down and be part of the atmosphere on the Waterfront as 33 teams take to the water for what’s set to be our biggest festival yet. Saturday 6th June from 10am!
