🌱 **Happy National Volunteers' Week!** 🌱

A huge thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who help make our community garden such a special place.

From planting and watering to weeding, tidying, and sharing your time and skills, every contribution helps our garden grow and flourish. More importantly, you help create a welcoming space where people can connect, learn, and enjoy being part of the community.

We are incredibly grateful for your hard work, enthusiasm, and generosity. The garden simply wouldn't be the same without you.

Please join us in celebrating and thanking our wonderful volunteers this National Volunteers' Week! πŸ’šπŸŒ»

We can all make space for wildlife, you don't even need a garden to attract them, a simple window box can provide enough food to keep insects going as they travel through areas in search of food and a bowl of water will provide essential hydration

πŸͺ΅ Make space for wildlife this Garden Wildlife Week!

Why not create a deadwood pile in your garden or even a single hardwood log can support a surprising variety of wildlife πŸžπŸ›

It’s especially important for the stag beetle (as shown in the picture) which is a European protected species that calls Ipswich home. They rely on decaying wood to survive, and your garden could make all the difference ❀️

πŸ‘‰ Find out how to build your own log pile in our wildlife activity pack here https://www.ipswich.gov.uk/leisure/parks-and-open-spaces/wildlife-activity-packs

Sunshine, muddy hands, water play, and kids planting their own carrots and beans is pretty much the perfect way to celebrate National Children's Gardening Week.

πŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎ Sowing seeds teaches patience and curiosity.

πŸ«› Planting beans and carrots gives children quick, rewarding results.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ¨ Crafting keeps creativity woven into the gardening experience.

πŸ’¦ Water play on a hot day turns the garden into a full sensory adventure.

Community gardens are such special spaces for this β€” children get to connect with nature, food, insects, weather, and each other all at once.

Special thanks to Asda Asda Foundation for supporting this brilliant session

Hi! Just to let you know, tomorrow’s session (Wed 27th May) is now fully booked 😊

At today's session visiting families learnt all about carrots πŸ₯• πŸ₯• πŸ₯• how to grow them and to try different ways to eat them. It was a hands on session where children got to handle and sow carrot seed, to investigate what a teeny tiny carrot looks like and chat about what they need in order to grow into the big carrots we might buy in a shop!

There was fairy craft and water play too, perfect for a sunny, relaxing Sunday morning.

Huge thanks to all those who joined us today, you were fab!

World Bee Day Is Here 🐝🐝🐝

The Wildlife Trusts tell us Bees might be small, but the role they play in our natural world is enormous.

From pollinating wildflowers and trees to helping entire ecosystems thrive, these tiny creatures support so much of the wildlife we love to see in our gardens, parks and wild spaces.

This World Bee Day is a chance to celebrate the pollinators that keep nature buzzing and reflect on how important it is to protect them.

Across the UK, bees face growing pressures from habitat loss, pesticides and climate change. But creating a more bee-friendly world can start with surprisingly small actions.

You'll find more info and ways to support bees at
