Bramford WI September 2025
There are over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests a year in the UK and less than one in ten people survive. Women have a lower chance of surviving than men. Early cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation can more than double the chances of survival.
This year, the WI is working to increase public confidence and training in the delivery of CPR and improve access to defibrillators, to give every person the best chance of surviving a cardiac arrest.
Did you know that the British Heart Foundation (BHF) offers free online 15 minute CPR training that you can do at home with just a mobile phone or tablet and a cushion? Bramford WI hopes to hold a training session at one of next year's meetings.
Do you know the location of defibrillators in Bramford? There is one outside the Co-op, one by the main entrance to the primary school and one on the back wall of the sports and social club by the tennis courts. Dial 999 and start CPR. The machine will tell you what to do.
Hopefully, having this knowledge may help someone you know.
