1st Inverurie Boys' Brigade

1st Inverurie Boys' Brigade Welcome to the 1st Inverurie Boys' Brigade page, we are a uniformed youth organisation for boys and young men aged 5-18.

Established over 40 years ago, the 1st Inverurie Company meets at St. Andrews Church Hall, Inverurie every week. An overview of the Boys' Brigade (BB): Each week The Boys' Brigade works with thousands of young people, many of whom have no other connection with the Church. Today we are working with over 60,000 children & young people in over 1500 companies (groups) in the UK & Republic of Ireland e

very week. The Boys' Brigade provides a balanced programme of activities for children and young people from 5 to 18 years old. These resources have been developed to help volunteer youth leaders work in a relevant and creative way. With changes in uniform and a more relaxed, social approach to meetings, the Boys' Brigade is now more accessible to all boys aged 5-19. Boys' Brigade companies are run by volunteer staff and are, in most cases, always connected to a local church, with meetings taking place on Church properties. Discipline is encouraged through Inspections and Drill. In most Boys' Brigade meetings, each company member will attend in full uniform and in a formal ceremony will be inspected on their appearance and attendance of Church and Boys' Brigade meetings. Marks gained are often used towards trophies and awards which are given throughout companies and battalions. The Boys' Brigade uniform has evolved from a traditional, military-based uniform into an increasingly more modern, practical form. Although the uniform once included caps, lanyards and belts, which were to be cleaned and maintained regularly, the day to day uniform is sweaters, schools shoes and trousers. Our April Recap.

Our Anchors talked about things that bring them joy and even made a ‘things that bring me joy’ craft. They also talked about compasses and made a giant compass on the floor which they used to play some games.

Our Juniors started with watching the Easter story and talked about what the egg represents. They also started their get active ‘Fruit and healthy eating’ project badge which has included them doing an ‘A-Z’ of fruits, a true of false of fruit, trying different fruit and common fruit. They have also talked about the benefits of eating fruit and have done a fruit dairy at home. Our Juniors also did a game of blind football.

March was a busy month for us at 1st Inverurie.
We started off the month with the boys creating their Mother’s Day crafts and cards.
Our juniors made chocolate bars and body scrubs for the Mother’s Day crafts while our Anchors made had print lily’s.
Our Anchors an Juniors were together agin this month to go out on a glow stick hunt. We split the boys into two teams so they could compete against each other to see which team could find the most glow sticks.
Our Anchors also did ‘pin a palm tree to the path’ as part of their badge work.
