🎶 A Huge Thank You to Everyone Who Has Donated to Our Instrument Library 🎶
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to every single person who has donated an instrument to the Rokzkool Instrument Library.
Each instrument that arrives through our doors is much more than wood, strings, keys, or brass. Every one carries its own unique history, memories, adventures, and the people who have loved and played it over the years.
These stories are just as valuable as the instruments themselves.
As we continue developing our Instrument Library, we are creating a catalogue complete with photographs and the stories behind each instrument.
Our aim is to celebrate not only the instruments but also the incredible generosity of the people who have entrusted them to us.
By sharing these stories, we hope to inspire the next generation of musicians and show how music can connect people across generations.
Many of these instruments have travelled far and wide, been played at special occasions, supported learning journeys, or simply brought joy to families over many years. Now they have the opportunity to begin a new chapter, helping young people discover music, build confidence, and create their own memories.
Over the coming weeks and months, we'll be sharing some of these wonderful stories with you. Here's one of them to get us started...
Every instrument has a story. Every story deserves to be heard.
Thank you for helping us create something truly special for our community.
The Rokzkool Team 🎵💙
Here's a lovely story, thank you Helen and Anne for sharing this with us!!
Charlie's Story
Charlie was brought up in a house where music was appreciated from classical opera to Scottish country music and all I between but in his later teens folk music got the top spot for him and he became a founder member of Falkirk folk song club.
This was his start in singing and guitar playing and as folk music was in its ascendancy in the sixties the club was very successful for many years
In his twenties Charlie moved more towards entertaining in social clubs and pubs doing a lot of country and western and not one to specialise he covered Buddy Holly Chris Kristofferson Dr Hook and everything in between.
Following these years we became self employed and too busy to do much except enjoy other peoples music in all categories good luck to all at Rokzkool!!
