Thanks to those who came out for the wildflower planting today, 50 plug plants and wildflower seeds planted around the reservoir. Turns out tiny wildflowers are hard to photograph once they are in! Thanks to Marian for the photo of the heron.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last Saturday for the tree planting and woodland ceilidh - we had a brilliant time! Thanks to your generosity, we raised over Β£600, which will be shared between us and Culduthel Community Woods. Funds like these make a real difference, helping us maintain and enhance our woodlands for the benefit of the whole community.

Thanks also to the Corryvreckan ceilidh band who put on a brilliant event and had everyone dancing 🎻

We have some brilliant raffle prizes up for grabs at the Community Woodland Ceilidh this Saturday! Just look at this stunning wooden bowl - handcrafted from European oak taken directly from Dunain Community Woodland by one of our Monday volunteers, George Burgess. Fun fact: George has been woodturning for over 50 years. A huge thank you to him for such a beautiful donation. We can’t wait to see whose home it ends up in on Saturday.

🌟 Meet the trustees 🌟

Next up, meet Jonathan, not only a trustee but one of our most trusted Monday volunteers!

"Before retiring nearly ten years ago, I was active in working with farmers, foresters and ecologists in promoting heritage across rural Scotland. I am now a regular volunteer at Inverness Botanic Gardens and also enjoy working with the other Monday volunteers in maintaining access to Dunain Community Woods and our bit of the Great Glen Way. Living in a flat in town, I appreciate the physical activity with like-minded people but also being outside in the woods and fields, looking across the town and beyond down the Moray Firth, even if control of the gorse seems never ending! More help is always appreciated, especially by those who enjoy access to Dunain!"

We're looking for more trustees to help us manage the woodlands for the benefit of the local community. Interested in joining us? We'd love to hear from you! Get in touch or read more on our website πŸ‘‰ https://www.dunainwoods.com/

It's a Community Woodland Festival - tree planting in the morning followed by an evening Ceilidh on Saturday 18 April!

🌳 We're joining up with SSEN to replant trees at the Duck Pond following last year's tree felling works that were carried out to protect the overhead electricity lines and avoid power cuts.

🎻Then from 7pm, we've teamed up with Culduthel Community Woods to host a Woodland Ceilidh fundraiser for our community woodlands! Huge thanks to Corryvreckan Ceilidh band for offering to play for us πŸ™ Tickets are selling fast, get them here: πŸ‘‰ https://www.eventbrite.com/e/community-woodland-ceilidh-tickets-1984183158239?
