We are delighted to announce that we achieved 2nd place in the ‘New entry’ category of the Legion Scotland Best Kept War Memorial Competition.

We achieved an impressive 106/110 points during judging and were ‘very highly commended’.

Judges commented that the memorial was in good order and well presented, paths were litter free, well maintained and w**d free, seats were well maintained and clean, metalwork was well maintained and clean, hedges and lawns were cut and maintained and the planters wete dead headed and w**d free.

We lost 1 point because of a small amount of litter in the garden area and 3 points due to damage to the floor of the memorial, we intend to repair the floor of the monument prior to the next competition.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who supported us during the renovation of the monument and gardens including ;

Nic McCourt (CLEANCO) and team for the high quality professional clean of the monument.

Andrew Stewart (Alistair Stewart & sons Memorials Ltd) for his meticulous work in refreshing the relief letteing on our war memorial.

Brian and team (Highland council gardening) for their attention to detail in grass cutting, edging and border planting in the memorial gardens.

Katrina and Mark Taylor for a super job cutting and maintaining the laurel hedge in the memorial gardens.

A special thanks to the Makintosh family for their generous donation towards the maintenance of our war memorial.

Finally a big thank you to Paul Chambers and Andy Griffin for their help in cleaning and painting posts and railings around the War Memorial.

Congratulations to the organisers and participants of the Glen Urquhart gathering and Highland games. This was a superb event with what appeared to be record crowds.

We were able to increase the visibility of our branch and our work to maintain the village war memorial and support for veteran members. We exceeded our fundraising target raising £300 which will help support our work. Thank you to members for their help & support in setting up and managing the gazebo on games day.

Thanks to all who made donations and spoke with branch members throughout the day.
