Congratulations to the organising committee and all volunteers for a fabulous Highland Games.

Extending thanks to our members who donated prizes for our tombola and to the old post office cafe for donating a generous meal voucher prize.

I am delighted to say that we raised just over £290 on the day and this will be used towards the cost of maintenance and repair of the Glen Urquhart war memorial.

Thank you to everyone who donated and/or bought tickets for our tombola.

Many thanks to those branch members who attended to man our pitch- very much appreciated.

The results for best kept War memorial 2026 are in. We have been highly commended in our category (small community with garden) with a total score of 96/110.

However the judges have identified a number of areas for improvement - we have discussed these at our recent branch meeting and are in the process of developing an action plan to address each. A number of areas will require expenditure and that means a sharper focus on fund raising. Keep an eye out for us in the tea tent at the Glen Urquhart Highland Games on 22/08/26.

Thanks again to all those who helped in the preparation and maintenance of the war memorial and remembrance gardens.

We have entered the ‘Best kept war memorial 2026’ competition.

We would like to extend our thanks to:

Nic McCourt (Cleanco) for gifting us a superb ‘lest we forget’ bench which he had painstakingly restored. It is now perfectly positioned in the memorial gardens. Thanks to Paul Chambers, Jules Burnard & Paul Buckley for their assistance in removing the old bench (now in its new home on the village green) and installing the new.

Highland council: Many thanks to Brian and the Public grounds Maintenance team for their care and attention of the memorial gardens which look fabulous.

Taylor gardening services: A big thanks to Mark & Katrina for bringing our enormous laurel hedge under much needed control-it now frames the garden and specifically the new bench perfectly.

We are now ship shape and hoping to do well in the upcoming ‘Best kept’ competition.
