🐺⚜️🏃‍♀️ OUR CUB LEADER DID IT! 🏃‍♀️⚜️🐺

We’re pretty sure there isn’t a badge for running 26.2 miles… but if there were, Susan would definitely have earned it today! 🏅🐺

A HUGE well done and thank you to our brilliant Cub Leader Susan, who completed the Loch Ness Marathon today, raising funds for our Cathedral & Kingsmills Cubs along the way. 🎉

Starting a new Cub Pack takes lots of enthusiasm, plenty of volunteers, a fair bit of equipment… and apparently one leader prepared to run an entire marathon! 😂

Every mile Susan has run and every pound raised will help us give our Cubs more adventures, new experiences and plenty of opportunities to learn .

Susan, you’ve definitely done your best — and then some! 💛

Now we think the Cub Leader’s Law for this evening should be:

🛋️ Feet up
☕ Favourite drink
🍰 Something suitably enormous to eat
😴 And absolutely NO running!

From all of us at Cathedral Cubs — THANK YOU, SUSAN! We’re incredibly proud of you. 🐺⚜️🏅

🏃‍♀️🐺 THE MARATHON IS ALMOST HERE — CAN WE REACH £1,000? 🐺🏃‍♀️

This Sunday, Susan Cord will be pulling on her running shoes once again — but this time for the Loch Ness Marathon! 🏃‍♀️🏅

After completing the Kirkcaldy Parks Half Marathon last month, Susan is now taking on the full 26.2 miles to raise vital funds for 2nd Inverness (Kingsmills) Cubs and our new Cathedral Cubs.
And we would LOVE to help her reach £1,000! 🎯

Cathedral Cubs is still a very new Pack, created in part to help open up Scouting to more young people from the large waiting list in Inverness. Funds raised will help both Packs with equipment, resources and opportunities — including giving Cubs the chance to get outdoors, go camping, try new things and build those all-important .

⚜️ Our Scout leaders are all volunteers, giving their time each week to make these opportunities possible. Susan is going quite a bit further this weekend — 26.2 miles further! 😅

💙 So, as marathon day approaches, could you help us give Susan an extra boost?
Our goal is £1,000 — and every £5, £10, £20 or share of the fundraising page gets us a little closer.

👉 Sponsor Susan here:

And if you can’t donate, please share, share, share — it really does make a difference. 🙌

🐺 Cathedral Cubs & Kingsmills Cubs will be cheering you on, Susan — all the way to the finish line!

COME ON SUSAN! 🏃‍♀️👏🐺⚜️

🧭🗺️ Cathedral Cubs – Finding Our Way! 🐺

Cathedral Cubs is still a very new Pack, but already it is making a real difference.

With such a large waiting list for Scouting locally, opening our new Cub Pack has meant that more young people have been able to put on a necker, join the adventure and discover all that Scouting has to offer. 💚

And none of it happens without our volunteer leaders. Like Scout groups across the country, Cathedral Cubs relies on people generously giving their time, energy and skills each week to create a safe, welcoming where our Cubs can learn, grow, make friends and have fun.

At the moment we're learning all about maps, compass points and finding our way. 🗺️🧭 After a week practising indoors, it's time to put those new skills to the test!
Next we'll be heading outside to explore in a much more practical way — and here in Inverness we're incredibly fortunate to have the great outdoors right on our doorstep. 🌳🥾⛰️
Because sometimes the best way to learn which way is north is to get outside, get exploring… and hopefully find our way back again! 😄

Adventure. Friendship. Skills for life. And plenty more still to come from our growing Cathedral Scout family.

🦫⚜️ Learning new skills, making new friends! 🧭🪢

Cathedral Beavers & Cubs are well and truly back, and we’ve been busy getting to know one another and trying out some new skills!
Over the last few weeks we’ve been learning about compass points, having a go at tying knots, and discovering that sometimes the best way to learn is simply to have a go — even when the knot doesn’t quite end up looking like the one in the picture! 😄🪢

But Scouting is about much more than learning practical skills. It’s about meeting new people, building confidence, working together, helping one another and discovering new ways of doing things.
With new Beavers and Cubs joining us this term, it’s wonderful to see friendships beginning to grow and everyone finding their place in our Cathedral Scout family. 💛

Plenty more adventures — and probably a few more knots — still to come!

A big congratulations to our Scout Leader Graham who was presented with his Silver Acorn award during Gilwell Reunion last weekend for his ongoing dedication and contribution to Scouting.

As well as being a Scout Leader at Kingsmills, he is also the Lead Volunteer for British Scouting Overseas providing support and leading over 4,500 members, from Squirrels to Adult volunteers, to continue their Scouting journey while living all across the world.

🏃‍♀️ RUNNING FOR OUR CUBS! 🐺⚜️

We’re incredibly grateful to Susan Cord, one of the leaders helping us establish our brand-new Cathedral Cubs, who is taking on an amazing running challenge to raise funds for Cubs in Inverness!

Susan will be running not one, but TWO big races:

🏃‍♀️ Kirkcaldy Parks Half Marathon — Sunday 30 August
🏃‍♀️ Loch Ness Marathon — Sunday 27 September

She is raising funds for both 2nd Inverness (Kingsmills) Cubs and Cathedral Cubs, helping provide resources, equipment and opportunities for activities such as camping.

Our new Cathedral Cubs only began meeting this week, so this support couldn’t come at a better time. Every contribution will help us give our Cubs opportunities to have fun, make friends, grow in confidence and develop those all-important .

💙 Could you sponsor Susan — and give her an extra reason to keep running when the miles get tough?!

👉 Sponsor Susan and support our Cubs

And please share, share, share to help us spread the word! 🙌

Good luck, Susan — Cathedral Cubs are cheering you all the way! 🐺👏🏃‍♀️

⚜️ A NEW TERM — AND A NEW CHAPTER! ⚜️

This week saw Cathedral Beavers AND Cathedral Cubs starting back for the new term! 🦫🐾

We were delighted to welcome lots of new Beavers and Cubs, as well as some new leaders joining our fantastic team. Their support has enabled us to grow our Cathedral Scout family and, for the very first time, add Cathedral Cubs! 🎉

Tuesday evening was a particularly special moment as we made a little bit of history and celebrated the very first Flag Break for Cathedral Cubs. 🚩⚜️

It’s wonderful to see our Scout family growing and to offer more children and young people a place to have fun, learn new skills, make friends and belong.

Here’s to a brilliant year ahead for Cathedral Beavers & Cubs! 💙💚

It's our birthday, Scouts! 🎉 🥳 ✨

119 years since the very first experimental Scout camp pitched up on Brownsea Island, Dorset.

We’re so proud of everything our volunteers have done since then to give young people a place to belong. Thank you to you all! 🙌
