HPG0006: June 2011
Defending the Realm

The abandoned subterranean Sutor Royal Navy bunkers at Cromarty were visited by some of the team along with a local radio station for an investigation. Originally built to defend the home fleet in WW1, they were strengthened and used again in WW2. While our search failed to produce any tangible evidence of a haunting, the radio technician was spooked by tapping on his headset!

The Children of the Crypt

The long abandoned crypt in St Regulus Graveyard, Cromarty holds the graves of the Ross family who once owned much of the area. For many years teenagers would be dared to spend the night in the dark and mysterious place, surrounded only by gravestones. Our investigations here have connected us with brothers and sisters, and the audible sound of a child’s voice crying out “Mum”.

The Shove

During a calling out session in the darkness of an Inverness city centre shop basement, the fateful words “could you touch one of us” was muttered, this was followed by the sound of a cry and a thump! Our torches quickly lit up the room, and to our horror, one of the team laid slumped against a wall. In total shock, he took a few minutes to compose himself and then told us that when the ask had been made, he felt a violent push on his chest, and down to the floor he went! While some of the team made sure he was okay, others scanned the room for clues and a high electrical field was detected on the wall behind where he stood. Could this have affected him? Possibly, but 15 minutes after the incident, a further reading of the area found none.

Physical attacks are thankfully extremely rare and during our investigations there have only been a couple of times where a team member has reported being attacked. I will say however, it was a long time before we asked out for someone to touch us after this incident.

What a gorgeous ruin. Any idea folks?

no. 440 features the gable end of a ruined building, possibly a church, but it was taken c1890s so may be much changed now. If you recognise it, please get in touch. Thank you
