SSEN Transmission is inviting young people in S4-S6 to take part in their Discovery Days this November.

Following the event last week, Kiera Hogg, Events Manager at Ross Sutherland Rugby Club told us,

๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€โš•๏ธ Healthcare & Wellbeing Careers Fair at Kingussie High School ๐Ÿš‘

S4 pupils had a fantastic opportunity last week to explore the wide range of careers and pathways available across healthcare, care and wellbeing at our Healthcare & Wellbeing Careers Fair.

We were delighted to welcome representatives from Skills Development Scotland (My World of Work), In2MedSchool, Highland Hospice, Your Perfect Smile Dental & Implant Clinic, Badenoch and Strathspey Community Connections, Kingussie Medical Practice, NHS Highland Pharmacy, UHI, NHS Adult Social Work & Social Care and the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Pupils had the chance to chat with professionals, hear about their roles and career journeys, find out about qualifications and routes into different professions, and take part in our Healthcare Careers Challenge.

They also got involved in practical activities, explored equipment and learned more about the skills used in different roles.
From medicine, pharmacy and dentistry to social care, bereavement support, mental health and emergency services, the event showcased the many different opportunities available within the sector, including the administrative and support roles that are essential to delivering healthcare and wellbeing services. It also highlighted the variety of skills and interests that can lead to a career in this field.

Debbie Khadi, DYWICH School Coordinator, said, "It's great to be able to show pupils the huge variety of careers available within healthcare and wellbeing, including roles they may never have considered. Having the chance to speak directly to people working in these professions and get involved in practical activities really helps bring those careers to life."

A huge thank you to all the organisations and individuals who gave up their time to support the event and share their knowledge and experiences with our pupils. Their contribution helps young people explore future options and make more informed decisions about their career pathways.

๐Ÿด Discover where a career in hospitality could take you!

Weโ€™re excited to be bringing the Highland Hospitality Showcase to Inverness Royal Academy on Thursday 8 October, in collaboration with the schoolโ€™s Home Economics Department.

Weโ€™ll be joined by MasterChef finalist Sarah Rankin for a live chef demonstration, alongside Gรฉrard Chouet, Head Chef at Ness Walk, and a fantastic line-up of hospitality and tourism professionals from across the Highlands.

Representatives from The Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness Group, Highland Coast Hotels, Turas Hotels, Aldourie Castle & Estate, Visit Inverness Loch Ness and The Lovat, Loch Ness will be sharing their experiences as part of our hospitality panels - giving young people the chance to hear first-hand what itโ€™s really like to work in the industry and the different career paths available.

Whether youโ€™re already thinking about a career in hospitality or simply curious about what the industry has to offer, this is a great opportunity to meet people working in the sector, hear their stories and get inspired.
