Our speaker at a well-attended and informative lunchtime meeting yesterday was Michael Hanratty, community fundraising manager for Scotland’s much appreciated Charity Air Ambulance Service.

Rotarians were really impressed by what they heard about the dedicated team of professionals operating right across Scotland, including the islands, providing fast and efficient services to those in need of rescue and medical support.

The topography of Scotland presents unique challenges to paramedics in reaching and treating patients but the charity’s statistics say it all. They demonstrate effective partnership working with NHS and other agencies. This helps fill a national gap in provision and saves many lives by dealing with some far-flung trauma patients faster than surface or sea travel; and providing SCAA medical transfers to supplement other national provision.

I have included some photographs from SCAA’s own website, which can be accessed directly at scaa.org.uk. This also contains a link for anyone who may wish to donate.

One of the real joys of Rotary is the international aspect, meeting new friends and promoting peace across the globe.
Yesterday’s lunchtime meeting of our Inverness Loch Ness Club was no exception when our four visitors from Sweden’s Jarfalla Rotaryklubb near Stockholm included Bjorn and Yvonne.
President Sandy in welcoming the far travelled Rotarians (to our first Rotary meeting in the hotel’s new meeting room), presented our Club banner bearing the iconic image of the still elusive creature that symbolises Loch Ness!

Following our very successful Inverness Loch Ness Classic Car Tour in 2025, all the beans for charity have been counted!!

At an enjoyable lunch meeting in the Craigmonie Hotel today, we were therefore delighted that our current President Sandy Renfrew was able to present a sizeable cheque to DEBRA UK, a respected charity providing much needed services across Scotland, and the rest of the UK.

Only Ormond Smith brought his lovingly restored classic car, a Triumph Vitesse, to our lunch!

Photo shows Laura Forsyth receiving the Inverness Loch Ness Club’s donation to DEBRA from President Sandy Renfrew flanked by Tour Organisers Ormond Smith and Nicol Manson.
