Thanks to a fantastic £7,500 grant from B&Q, the Recovery Centre has undergone a wonderful transformation, creating a warmer and more welcoming space for residents and staff.

The funding covered painting and decorating throughout the centre, including corridors, communal bathrooms, toilets and the games room. Residents are already enjoying the brighter, homely environment and the benefits this has made to their wellbeing:

“The Recovery Centre is a pleasant place to live in. I have been here as a patient for 5 years now. The building is getting a makeover, the corridors are getting painted a light pink which is a really warm and inviting colour, and the gardens are lovely and well-kept.“ - Catherine.

Gordon contacted us after seeing our Facebook post asking for donations of materials for our garden at The Recovery Centre. He offered to volunteer his own time to help us develop our outdoor space.

Gardening can have such a positive impact on mental health, reducing stress, improving mood, helping people connect with others and with nature all whilst building positive habits.

Gordon has been absolutely brilliant and incredibly hardworking, despite the fact that our drill wasn’t quite up to the job! 🔧😄

People like Gordon remind us just how important community is. This mental health awareness week we want to recognise the impact small acts of kindness and giving your time can have on the lives of others.
