Upcoming events from Bunloit Estate. All welcome.

A Bunloit Estate update meeting, including plans for four new homes at Bunloit Farm.
📅 Thursday 14th May
🕔 5–7pm
📍 Drumnadrochit Village Hall
This is a chance to hear what’s happening on the estate, ask questions, and share your views.
At the meeting:
• Estate update from Highlands Rewilding CEO Jeremy Leggett including the new woodland creation on South Bunloit, re-routing the Great Glen Way through the estate, hairy wood ant reintroduction and other wildlife reports, and our joint venture projects with GURCA and Mindfulness in Nature
• Introduction to plans for four new homes at Bunloit Farm
• Time to look at the designs and speak directly with the team

The proposed homes are timber-rich, low-carbon houses, designed and built MAKAR by using modern off-site construction methods. They are planned to sit sensitively within the existing Bunloit Farm cluster, helping to support a working rural estate while contributing to the long-term sustainability of the area.

MAKAR are also offering a tour of their prototype home.
If you’d like to see how these homes are built and feel in real life, please book your visit via the link below:

There was a meeting on Friday between the IRG and Sorin Bogdan, Project Coordinator, Stratherrick & Foyers Community Trust, concerning future plans for the small piece of land at the bottom of the Corkscrew Road.
This site was once a Forestry Commission Depot and tree nursery.

Sorin informed us of the outcome from a recent survey conducted about preferences for a future use of this brownfield site. The results were:

53% wanted a shared workshop.
47% wanted a tool library.
42% wanted an improved work pit for vehicles.
34% wanted leased garages.
13% wanted a fire equipment store.
13% wanted leased parking.

The meeting resolved to progress the plan to develop the site, pending SFCT Board approval, with green steel buildings for a community workshop and garaging. The income from leased garaging and parking will help to offset the running costs of the shared workshop. A second phase will involve installing solar panels on the site.
