🌈A very overdue, but very special post… 💚

Earlier this year, we had the absolute pleasure of presenting Christopher’s Trophy, our Inspire to Achieve Award at Inverkeithing High School to the lovely Alecia Robertson. 🏆

Alecia did feature in the slightly emotional video shared on this page after the event, but we’ve just realised that amongst everything going on at the time, we never actually shared a proper post celebrating her and her achievement here on our page!

And this is one young lady who absolutely deserves her moment. 💚

Christopher’s Trophy is incredibly special to us. Each year it is awarded to a senior pupil who has gone above and beyond to help and encourage others to achieve no matter what is going on in their own life - qualities that meant so much to Christopher and are exactly what we want this award to continue to recognise in his memory.

This year, Alecia Robertson was that person. 💚

It was also an especially poignant presentation for us, with it being the final year at Inverkeithing High School before the move to the New Caledonia campus.

So, although this post may be a little later than it should have been, the sentiment behind it certainly isn’t.

Last night was one of those evenings that catches you by surprise.
As a family, we’ve been presenting the The Cookie Jar Foundation ‘Inspire to Achieve Award’ at Inverkeithing High School for many years in memory of Christopher. Every year is special, but this one felt different.
This year’s recipient, Alecia Robertson, is a remarkable young person and thoroughly deserving of Christophers’ award. Seeing young people overcome their own challenges, support others and go on to achieve their goals is exactly why we created it.

But alongside the pride was a real sense of emotion.

This was the last awards ceremony to be held in the current Inverkeithing High School building before the move to the new Caledonia campus in Rosyth. Sitting there last night, I couldn’t help but think about Christopher walking those same corridors, sitting in those classrooms and making memories of his own.
Over the last 13 years, the school has helped us keep his memory alive through this award, along with fundraising for the charity - although I’m delighted that Christopher’s memorial will continue in the new campus, saying goodbye to the building itself felt like the end of a chapter.

Places hold memories. They become part of our story.
Last night reminded me that while buildings change, the people, values and legacies we leave behind continue to live on 🌈🍪

I have to say a personal thank you to Ms Clark - There are people who quietly help keep a person’s memory alive, and for our family, Ms Clark has been one of those people. Having taught Christopher herself, she has always understood the importance of this award and the legacy behind it. Her care, thoughtfulness and commitment over the years have ensured that Christopher is remembered not just as a name on an award, but as the young man he was. As we marked this final awards ceremony at Inverkeithing High School, it felt especially important to recognise the role she has played in keeping that connection alive. For that, we will always be grateful. 💚

Another incredible fundraiser completed in memory of our Christopher 🍪

🌈 Christopher was a real petrol head, so this challenge feels especially close to our hearts. 🚗

Based in Dunfermline, this amazing supporter, Brian Maguire, long with friends and customers, took part in a “Banger Run” purchasing cars for under £500 before setting off on an epic journey from Central Scotland to the Isle of Skye, through the Highlands, Inverness and all the way back home.

When choosing a charity to support, they told us they immediately felt a connection after learning that “Cookie” shared the same love of cars and motoring that brought all of them together on this adventure.

We are so grateful that they chose to support our charity and help keep Christopher’s memory alive in such a meaningful and fitting way.

Thank you for your kindness, support and for taking Christopher with you on your journey. 💚

A huge congratulations to Taylor for completing the 🏃🏼‍♂️Edinburgh Marathon in incredibly tough conditions on Sunday! 🏅☀️

Despite the heat and a foot issue along the way, Taylor pushed through and crossed the finish line in an amazing 4 hours and 14 minutes — an incredible achievement and testament to his determination.

In Taylor’s own words:
“ The main thing is I enjoyed it from start to finish and we smashed the donations target.”

🌈 Taylor attended school with our son Christopher, whose memory the Cookie Jar Foundation was set up in. We are beyond grateful to Taylor for choosing to run on behalf of the Cookie Jar Foundation and for helping raise vital funds and awareness for our cause.
