⚠️ Public Safety Notice – Homestead Lake

Immingham Town Council has received reports of children and young people swimming in Homestead Lake.

While the lake may appear calm and inviting, it is not a safe place to swim. Open water presents serious hidden dangers, including deep water, very cold temperatures, sudden changes in depth, submerged hazards, and the absence of lifeguards or safety equipment.

In recent weeks and months, communities across the country have been devastated by tragic incidents in lakes, rivers and other open water, where children and young people have sadly lost their lives. Our thoughts are with all of the families affected.

We do not want another community to experience such heartbreak.

We ask parents, carers and guardians to speak to children and young people about the dangers of swimming in open water, and we encourage everyone to look out for one another.

Please help us keep our community safe.
