Book Club News

Thank you to Carole C for kindly hosting this month's book club.

Our next book is Helen and the GrandBees by local author Alex Morrall.

Join us at 2pm on Tuesday 3rd November at Ilmington Community Shop Café, where Alex will be joining us in person. It's a rare chance to ask your questions, hear the ideas and inspiration behind the story, and find out what happens beyond the page.
If you've never been to book club before, this is the perfect time to start. Come along for a cup of tea, a slice of cake and good company.

Everyone welcome, no need to have finished the book.

At Ilmington Community shop and café we are proud to stock not just British food, but produce from local suppliers close to home.

Stocktake done.

On Sunday, our volunteers and managers counted every tin, jar, cake, bar of soap, bottle of w**e and everything else we stock in the shop. Thank you to Robert, Michele, Astrid, Debbie, Sarj, Laura, Diane, Sasha, Daphne, Pat, Jane, Graham and Clare, and a big thank you to Mike T for the afternoon and evening spent inputting data and crunching numbers.

Stocktake is one way to volunteer without a regular commitment.
Could you lend a hand?
We're looking for:
• Someone to wash our café tea towels every 2-3 weeks
• Someone to help build our stock of photos of the shop, café and events

A big thank you to Shipston Community First Responders! 💛

After the shop installled a defibrillator and bleed pack, they ran three practical sessions for our community. 26 people learned how to perform CPR and use the defibrillator in an emergency. Skills like these can save lives, and we are so grateful for their time and expertise.

A busy Monday at the shop and café!

Michele, our manager, ran early-shift training on baking bread and pastries — one of our most popular counter items.

Who enjoyed playing shop as a child? Well the good news is that you still can! Come and join us, like Oliver aged nearly 3 did last week. It’s great fun and he loved it. Plenty of training and support and a lovely green pinny available to get you settled in.

We have refreshed our w**e list in conjunction with Broadway Wines. This means that we have a selection of lovely new w**es and also some bin ends on discount for a quick sale. Soon we will be doing tastings of the new w**es so keep an eye out for that. Meanwhile come and check out our great new w**es and grab a bargain bottle at the same time. 🍷 🍾 **es **es

We had a little oops a while back when our wall was pushed over by the holly tree. Luckily we have Geoff and Steve and the other Steve on hand to mend it for us! Great job guys and thank you. 🙏 Another great example of some of the varied jobs that are needed to help keep the shop and cafe open and looking great!
