NEXT WEEK Film Screening ilkleyplayhouse of "Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk" Directed by Sepideh Farsi.

12A Palestine / France / Iran 2025, 110 min. Certificate

This film is an intimate, first-hand perspective of life in Gaza, told through a series of video calls between filmmaker Sepideh Farsi and young Palestinian photojournalist Fatma Hassona. Their digital dialogue became a vital record, bearing witness to everyday life, loss, and acts of resistance amid escalating violence.

Just a day after the film's selection at Cannes, Fatma was tragically killed in an Israeli airstrike on her home. This heartbreaking loss deepens the film's impact, which combines raw immediacy with profound humanity to portray the stark realities of daily life during conflict, seen through the eyes of those trapped in an endless cycle of war and living under siege.

← This screening has been organised by an informal grouping of Ilkley residents. Surplus funds will be sent to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). The doors will open at 7pm; there will be information available and the bar will be open. After the film, the bar will open again and there will be an opportunity to talk about the film with fellow audience members.

🍎Murderously mirthful and heinously hilarious, The Unfriend opens TONIGHT at Ilkley Playhouse!

🛳️After befriending the loud-mouthed, life-loving Elsa on a cruise, ordinary couple Peter and Debbie agree to stay in touch, because that's the polite thing to do, isn't it? But when Elsa makes an unexpected visit to their home, they soon discover their guest has a murky - and potentially murderous - past!

🚪A brillianty biting tale of the British middle-class fixation with always being polite, The Unfriend will keep you guessing and keep you laughing all night long!

🎭October 26 of afternoon, a very hardy troupe of thespians braved the howling winds of Ilkley to take part in our third edition of 'Actors Playtime!'

👉Led by Co-Artistic Director Damien O'Keeffe, the afternoon saw everything from secret meetings, to runaway brides, to a knock on the door at the dawn of time! 😳

👉Intrigued? We have another two workshops taking place this year on November 30th and December 21st, with more planned for 2026! Contact [email protected] for more info.

🌟This workshop was absolutely free for attending Ilkley Playhouse members, enabled through funding from the Walter Swan Trust. The charity, established by the family and friends of Walter Swan (a former Artistic Director of the Playhouse) and chaired by Niccola Swan, promotes local creative writing and theatrical arts✨

The script for The Unfriend has been hiding in our set this week 🤣 Just an ordinary family home like any other... Or is it? 🤔

The killer comedy of the season opens at Ilkley Playhouse just ONE DAY from today! Have you booked your tickets? 👀

🛳️When Peter and Debbie meet the super-friendly, life-loving, Trump-supporting Elsa on a cruise, they agree to stay in contact – because that’s the polite thing to do, isn’t it? But when Elsa invites herself to stay a few months later, they decide to do some research into their uninvited guest… and uncover Elsa’s shocking hidden past 😳

🚪Screenwriter Steven Moffat’s play takes a hilarious look at middle-class England’s disastrous instinct to always appear nice. Because how do you protect your family from mortal peril without seeming, well, a tad impolite?

👉Head to our website now or ring our box office to secure your spot... before it's too late! 👀
